I hope leaders use more strategy and tougher Pokemon with better moves, like they did in some Generations. Last Gen, I found all the Leaders ridiculously easy in comparison to Hoenn's or Johto's. even Kanto's and Sinnoh's could be reasonably challenging. It'd be cool to also see them have 'counters' for common things they face, sort of like Elesa's Emolga being immune to Ground or Claire's team lacking real Ice weakness, or Winona's Altaria having Earthquake for Electric types (you can't have an Ice type at the point without trading as far as I know). Also, strategies like Tate and Liza using Levitate/Flying types paired with Earthquake-abusing Claydol, Bugsy's speedy U-turn Scyther beginning the battle, and Morty's Hypnosis and Dream Eater shenanigans make the battles so much better imo.
Gyms are supposed to test the trainer and push them to the limit, not provide easily beaten Pokemon that give a lot of experience.
Metapod and Kakuna each knowing just one attack, and that's Tackle & Poison Sting, now that I checked it. It's a great strategy, if you count him having infinite potions :D

It's true what you guys say about those Gyms and everybody being stupid. Some people finish the whole game using just the Starter, and play more for cool pokes rather than actual good ones. They don't know anything about breeding, IV's, EV's, Pokerus and stat modifiers...It's a pattern that I and I bet many of you noticed over the Wi-Fi network. Hell, I myself didn't know anything about these things until I finished White.
I think all Gym Leaders should have set the difficulty of Super Battle Train, it is still very faulty but at least that's how I learned to play good.
So let's talk about this
If you look closely at it, the walls are separate models (and obviously looking pretty glitchy). And pressuming that's near the entrance (Gym statues there, with preassumbly Gym Advice Guy standing there), along two odd panels and a circle-symbol where the PC stands, makes me think it's either a teleportation-heavy kind of gym featuring many similarly small rooms in it, or another gym with an unusual gimmick that nonetheless involves warping the room. (There isn't any obvious way to go, after all)
So deppending on how's it done, I'd think this is either a Normal-type or Psychic-type gym... but given how the walls are made it could also involve something unusual like it actually being an stage setting. Which is the sort of theme that doesn't really fit any type in particular (Kind of how rock music doesn't really have much in particular with poison)
Personally, I'd preffer seeing an unusual type for first gym. (Electric would be very appropiate in fact, as it does teach about some basic elemental play with the starters) And NO WATER GYMS PLEASE. I'd like to see a harder Rock too as a subversion, specially one that differenciates itself from Ground.
Grass needs more respect, so I'd preffer an Elite 4 for that.
And as much as I'd like an strong Bug gym with Heracross and Galvantula and such, we already got a few Bug specialists, so that's unlikely.
A Fighting gym could be likely, but that's a type that can very easilly and often does get some form of highlight without officially being a gym in one way or another.
Continuing with the discussion of this gym I noticed that just before the walls come together to for the room there seems to some sort of sphere down below composed of winding blue paths. I haven't had the proper time and equipment to confirm this spherical design myself though.
If this assumption about the sphere is true then we could suspect that logically the gym leader would reside at the center of the sphere since the challenge would be to solve this spherical maze. This would be an excellent design choice for a gym in this new generation simply to show off the capabilities of the 3DS and a truly functional 3D plane after Gamefreak's first attempt with the Distortion World in Platinum.
The heck is up with the Yo-Champ-In-The-Making Guy's hair? Is it because he looks twenty years younger than the others? Seriously, just...what.
I hope the badges look nice, and that you can polish them. I LOVE HAVING SHINY BADGES.
I don't understand why are they making another Bug gym...
...unless it's not a gym. But very likely. Like wtf....another?! we just had one in Unova...ffs.
Here's how I based the gyms so far
I want either a Dark gym, or a Ghost gym. Maybe a Steel gym.
I have claimed: Staraptor (01/12/13), Shiny Stone (02/12/13), and Limber (02/12/13).
IIRC, Steel has only been done twice, so that may be a good choice, besides Dark.
