That's true, but they would have been on the DS since I couldn't see them putting remakes on the 3DS before a new generation. It just would have been a step-backwards to extend this generation when the 3DS has been out for so long and ready for a main series game to be released.

The only reason this generation didn't get remakes is because of the 3DS thus why it was a shorter generation. If they decided to remake Ruby & Sapphire in Generation V it would have been on the Nintendo DS no doubt, so to start on the 3DS with a new generation is the perfect move and it puts the possibilities of RS Remakes in a better position.

I don't think so. Gens I and II were a long time ago (those lasted 3 years) and Gens III and IV are still a little fresher in many people's minds. Gen V is better off compared to Gen I than Gen IV.

Also, while not necessarily related to the time between the release of games, how about new Pokemon being announced and putting future generations into the public consciousness? People knew about the upcoming existence of Gen IV in 2004, two and a half years before DP's Japanese release, when Munchlax was announced for M07. Gen V wasn't confirmed until early 2010, the year it came out in Japan. Gen IV lasted four years, but it was about six years between the first Gen IV announcement and the first Gen V announcement.

I think it feels short because of the sudden announcement at the beginning of this year. The BW sequels were still fresh, and I hadn't even completed the game myself when Gen 6 was presented. It was surprising. But this generation hasn't been short at all, especially by the time October comes around. I think it's going to be a long wait until Pokemon 3DS is here. :"3 We better enjoy Gen 5 while it lasts, heh.

    Smile~
