Sylveon beats Hariyama with one attack. We can't say it's Flying type, since there are too many possible circumstances like low hp, critical hit etc. However, I do think it's perfectly viable that Sylveon has a high sp.atk stat.

My first type speculation is a new one. I mean, The Fairy type is unofficially announced and has been unofficially leaked from some trustworthy sources.
Second is definetly Flying.
And third probably being Bug.

Could Yveltal's name come from: Weltall - Wiktionary ? From the German words "welt" (world) and "all" (cosmos). Weltall's meaning is cosmos and/or outer space (Google translate is also saying Weltall means "universe"). The pronounciation is [ˈvɛltʔal] - I have no idea about German, but it looks similar to ee-VELL-tall which is the official pronounciation for Yveltal.
Back with a "space" relation again...

Interesting theory, but the imagery that's been associated to Yveltal doesn't seem to match.
Step into the Fairy circle
charmander in RB/FRLG you'll never really use the type. Having a region bird early on that evolves into that combo would probably give the thing a pretty wise use.
yvel - definition and meaning yvel - Wiktionary
Its appearance fits the evil look perfectly. (not to mention its rumored to be Dark "evil typed" and flying) So, combining the two words of Yvel and Weltall and translated we would get "Evil Cosmos?"

Though I'm like 99.9% sure Fletchling's evolutions will be normal flying as well.
Also, since someone mentioned where Yveltal comes from, I don't know if anyone has suggested this yet, but I believe Xerneus comes from Cerynitis/Cerynaea. Yeah, the actual words look different, but they do sound rather similar, and if you click the link, and you will see exactly why I see a connection. They just changed the word and spelling a bit to make it unique sounding and to added the X to match the version.

Dialga, a legendary, is the only Pokémon to holds this type. It would be better if Fletching's evolution had an unique type instead of Fire/Flying AND Normal/Flying. Plus, this type combination (Fire/Flying) is horrible. That said, mind you, I am not AGAINST Fletching becoming Fire/Flying, I am just saying it is unlikely, but in the end, Fire/Flying is certainly better than one more freaking Normal/Flying regional bird.
There is nothing wrong with having "another" regional Normal+Flying. Every other region has one....
And while it's true that the only benefit Flying gives Fire is against Fighting and some specific type combinations (e.g. Lotad and Larvesta), and the 4x weakness to Rock is definitely crippling, Fire+Flying is not a "bad" typing.
Virgil: “This eevee hasn't evolved yet. It’s a bit spoiled and still in training. Isn’t that right Eevee?”
Eevee: *shakes head*
Virgil: “Oh? Are you really ready girl?”
Iris: “Did you just say girl?”
virgil: “That’s right!”
They went out of their way to point out the Eevee’s gender. Granted, this could have to do with Eevee’s gender ratio but, a gender based Eeveelution is a possibility.
