It won't let me see the video. Quicktime is really gay, all I get is the freaking "Q" with the "?" in the middle. Anyone know what's wrong? I want to see that clip!

    Quicktime doesn't have a gender.

    Homosexual!

Anyway, this might not even matter since it's a commercial, but the card in the girl's DS was black, not transparent or blue/purple/pink like some people are thinking.

Electroplankton's card was just black with a shiny label, it wouldn't surprise me if D/P follows the same as I'd imagine they're probably planning on keeping all the DS Cards the same - presumably to keep production costs down and production levels up.

A DS game where you could make your own music I believe.

Meh who cares, and to the poster said the sprite desginer must have it tough XD no he/she doesn't It's most likely the same sprite with VERY small changes in detail.

I liked when Pokemon were genderless =\

To be honest, I would prefer it if each Pokemon had about 5 different randomized sprites that would simply indicate differences in individual Pokemon, rather than gender. IE - An orangeish Pikachu, a fat Pikachu, Pikachu with a scar, regular Pikachu - etc.

I will put money on that being the next step forward.

Seems to me that before they didn't really feel like this was worth cramming in to the games, considering a general lack of space in the media they were using.

Since the DS cards hold a relatively large amount of data (1GB?), I'd say they're making these first steps since they really don't have anything else to fill the space with. It's not as if the game's being forced to churn out a massive amount of Polygons per second or anything.

Considering it looks like they've decided to stick with sprites for the main portable games and only use 3-D graphics for the console, they're going to have more and more space as time goes on. Actually, it'd be nice if they could do a slightly different sprite for each combination of Pokemon and nature, instead of gender. I'd be more tickled at having a Lairon that actually looks bashful (like maybe slightly red, with smooth skin or something?) than one that looks readily male or female. Or a Adamant Jigglypuff with a scar and a scowl. Or a Timid Charizard that looks scared and is sort of on the small size. Etc.

Actually, that would help a lot, since Gender is already readily seen in wild Pokemon, while Nature isn't. I don't care about EV or IV training or min/maxing stats. I just don't like having two Pokemon of the same natures on one team, for some reason . . .

Problem with that is that RS already has 25 natures - and DP has at least 2 new ones. 27 natures x 500+ Pokemon = 13500+ sprites. I don't think there exists a game in history with that many sprites. And that's just *Pokemon*.

Randomized sprites... where have I heard that before.

Didn't Spinda have randomized spots on their bodies making each individually
unique? Whatever the developers did to put that together they could probably
do for most other pokemon as well. A random generator of sprites on the spot
shouldn't be too hard to code.

I realize that it's not the same as matching sprite to nature, but it's something that
could be played around with in order to have a bit more diversity in the game.

That actually sounds like the best idea so far.

Kinda screw Spinda out of anything that makes it unique, though. :p
