Default Fainted Pokémon Glitch in B&W

I've seen this glitch on the internet a lot, and it surprised me nobody has discussed about it in here (I haven't seen threads about it, so if there are, I'm sorry)! =O Perhaps it really is rare? In any case…

There's this glitch which causes Pokémon to faint with 1 HP left, causing the game to dismiss the Pokémon as existing and forcing you to reset it. From what I've seen you can't use revives or potions, you can't switch-out and you can't attack either.
I think it might have something to do with the damage formula, but I know nothing about it so I won't say anything =P

Here are some videos to better illustrate the glitch:

This one seems related, but it's not the same glitch:

Pretty interesting... I've been knocked down to 1HP quite a few times in BW myself (due to luck, not the result of Sturdy or anything like that), but I've never had this happen to me.

I had this happen in a triple battle before. I thought it was random, guess not. Well, it was a similar glitch, where I couldn't switch out.

Maybe this must be another Gen I throwback: Random Glitches.

and i've seen that related glitch video. no clue why the games are registering fainted pokemon as both fainted and alive at the same time on both sides for opponents and the player.

It's impossible for Nintendo to release updates for DS games. If it was a DSiWare or a Wii game, then maybe. But for a DS game, nope.avi.

All they can do is patch it out in a newer cartridge printing (the DP surf glitch, HGSS strength glitch, etc.) Sometimes glitches slip past the dev team as well, as this managed to end up in the US version too, while Acid Rain also ended up in HGSS.

Berry glitch was a save update. The games are stored on Read Only Memory (ROM) chips. If you take apart a GBA game, you see a few chips: One for saving, and one that should be marked "NX" and have the game ID printed. They couldn't patch the Platinum GTS bug or the DP Surf glitch, they had to issue new cartridge versions.

It's how game consoles used to work for a long time, companies would issue new game versions. Even early online games for consoles would have different versions. Phantasy Star Online, for example, had several versions (that were indicated on the box, like PSO V2). Later, the PS2 and Xbox Original could support updates, but those had universal save memory.

    This thread
is about the same thing. There's still no confirmed method of replicating it, well nobody here has brought up exactly how anyway. There have been theories of how to replicate it on Pokémon glitch forums, but they haven't worked.

Edit: That one was posted at a later date, sorry.
