Subomi looks like it could be smaller.

I understand that these are pseudo-Pokemon, with no sprites or presence in the game. Could it be that these act as the Enigma Berry did in the Advance gen, as placeholders whose data can be overwritten to expand the Dex with Pokemon not previously programmed into the game? Is there a way to tell if this is the case?

If so, there could be far more than 107 new Pokemon for Gen IV. GameFreak would know that people would hack the game right away to find out all of the new Pokemon, and this would be a way to keep us surprised and interested in what comes next. Possibility?
Those are placeholders for the eggs. The normal egg and the special Manafii egg.

As do Natu, Azurill, Minomucchi, and Riishan. FOUR little guys this time around. I love that the grass hedgehog is one of them--it really DOES make it like a Chia Pet!

Ahh, I see. In other words, this data has existed in the games since GSC and I've just never seen it in a data dump like this. Wouldn't the egg sprites be referenced, though? Or are they, and whoever said that #494/#495 have no sprites just missed it?

Would it still be possible to write new Pokemon data in via the eggs?

Well if you did, you could no longer have Pokemon Breed, and you might have some weird stuff happen - like having a new Pokemon hatch into a Pokemon.
