Dragons are cool Pokemon in my book and deserve all the praise they get. It does get annoying to run into the sheer amount of Garchomp and Salamence fanatics, true, but there are some more underused Dragons in-comparison that I like better. Dragonite for example has the very useful MultiScale, add Roost + Lefties with that and Dragonite can keep itself in good shape during battle. Its attacking power is also massive, great defenses as well. I like the concept behind the Dragon with it being bulky, yet extremely agile.(Because in rl that's an extremely hard combination to come by, you usually have to trade raw bulk for speed and vice versa.)
Next up, I actually like Hydreigon. I think it's a really cute Dragon to me, I like how it appears in the Hell's Mouth dungeon in PMD3DS. Speed could be better but that SP.ATK is just beastly. Defenses ain't bad neither. It does a good job embodying a true, firebreathing, element-using draconic monster. I like how Dragons only have two weaknesses, Ice is still a crappy weakness since there are so few bulky ice-types that can check a Dragon with ease. Plus must Dragons can learn some type of fire-breathing attack or fighting move. Steel resist Dragon, but still most Steel-types I run into are seriously dented or overrun by an Outrage regardless, plus ya know, most Dragons get Fire or Fighting anyway.
Druddigon & Altaria are the lower underrated Dragons, I really like how the former looks like a 4-year-old's lego creation with all the jagged and rough edges on its body and Altaria has that amazing Cotton Guard which 3+ its Defense in one go. That's something that can't be ignored because Altaria becomes so hard to kill with Physical moves. Toss D-Dance on there if you feel like maybe going for a sweep with it. Haxorus gets props from me for being the only fully-evolved Pure Dragon-type and one of my favorite Pokemon and being the siggy of my favorite Gym Leader since BW, Drayden. I haven't made it to the Kyurem part of BW2, so can't say. Kingdra has amazing typing. And I didn't care for the Sinnoh mascot Dragons except Giratina and I like the design of the BW Dragons and their concept. I didn't start caring about the Eon Dragons until I found out Benga had them, but looking back they are quite epic in competitively play. I personally never use Legendaries in-game nor competitively.
Kanto has one family, Johto had Kingdra, Hoenn had three, Sinnoh had one, and Unova had three. Not counting legendaries, that's only nine normal non-legendary Dragons. That's not even that many.
So, yeah, I think Dragons more than deserve their status.
The title of most overrated Dragon goes to Charizard
