I'm not the best to judge femininity due to the fact I have no concept of femininity or masculinity, but she doesn't look "girly" to me. But her clothing and pose doesn't mean anything.

I do think her NPC, anime, manga, and official art personalities will not be like the other girls though..Thankfully (NPC wise).

I can wear the most girly dress ever and would that make me feminine?

I think the Gen V girl isn't as girly as her predecessors. She's wearing a hat that Ash/Red would wear rather than something May/Dawn/Crystal/Lyra would wear.

I like the girl Character alot.
However, I wouldn't call her "not" girly, Doc Martens are pretty fashionable; it looks like (as usual) Japanese street fashion to me.

I usually play as the female character anyway, but the Male Protagonist' Hypebeastan is an instant turn off.

She is a girl, but a badass girl. Girls don't need to be tomboyish to be bodacious. She ties as my fav with Crystal. Amazing hair, vaguely Amy Winehouse-ish. (in terms of the poof) =D
Plus, her shorts remind me of Revy from Black Lagoon. Who was a total mofo.

Eww, that fan art on the first page is gross. THAT's girly.

    Cheer up guys!

Maybe you'll get a butch female character next generation!

On a serious note, why do people say she's girly as if it's some kind of shock? I mean girly by definition means having characteristics of a girl right? So I would hope the girl characters in Pokemon games are always girly...Unless a sex change...

I like her because she looks really tough and almost athletic tough. Perhaps she is going to be running a pokethlon quest. But I think she just looks like she is dressed for a lot of activity and not much relaxation.

By girly, they mean being overtly feminine and cute.I think this character is a nice blend between being very female, but a force to be reckoned with. but different strokes for different folks.

Yeah, people consider characters like Crystal and Leaf to be tomboyish, but they definitely have a feminine touch to them, like with the long hair, and skirt (Leaf). Their femininity is just not in your face and not 'loli' or 'valley girl' like with the others.

Probably the best received design since the third gen of May and Leaf.
Good point. The main problem with Lyra was that no one could tell if she was new or not. ("SHE IS NOT KRYS!"

Speaking of which, I wish Maxim were here to express his thoughts on the designs.

May, Dawn, Lyra (the HGSS girl I think?). I think that's it.

The new characters--both of them--are pretty awesome.

I was a little disappointed in the guy. Not that he's bad or anything, he just seemed really generic. And the powder blue jacket makes him look a bit tame in comparison to the girl.
