I hope it'll be digital, but even then I'd still pay sales tax to get the physical cartridge.

Basically just rehashing what everyone else is saying, but I much prefer having something physical and tangible for the game, even it it means having more stuff to keep track of.

Unless there is some benefit to owning a digital copy other than not having to pop a cartridge in, I'll be buying a retail copy. By benefit I mean something like being able to transfer my Pokemon from Gen V to Gen VI without needing a second system or having to use a middleman if I bought a digital copy.

Also, if I ever wanted to sell the game, I wouldn't be able to if I had a digital copy.

Boxed version. I feel safer with it, in case anything happens to the 3DS, I don't want to loose to much data. its awesome to have the box next to my other Pokemon plushys, figurines, games, and movies.

If they didn't have retail boxes and manuals, it wouldn't feel like a real Pokémon game to me.

I would even pay extra for physical if that was the case.

    Here is my Pro/Cons list

Digital: Available Midnight on opening day usually. Most likely to be able to get hold of unless mega estore lag
Physical: Available sometimes day before if ordered online but most likely to come in post at 2pm or have to go to store at 9am.
Winner: Digital wins but if you know a good retailer that stocks it early always a chance for a day early arrival might sway it

    Price
Digital: Everything else is 39.99 its going to be the same.
Physical: likely to be 29.99 from online retailers and 24.99 after few months
Winner: Physical since the nintendo store is a ripe off

    Promotions
Digital: sometimes modern games do a deluxe digital collectors version but I doubt pokemon will. Most opening day promotions are wifi for all
Physical: manuel, box and cart included
Winner: Physical unless some exclusive to digital offer

    backwards compatability
Digital: you can have your earlier cards in the game slot which might allow 1 3ds transfering but unknown
    Physical: need a 2nd ds/3ds
Winner: tie most should have a ds anyway if long term fans. Doubt they do a special thing just for digital to pick up whats in slot.

    Future Proofing
Digital: Your system dies your game save is lost. Unsure if nintendo store allows redownloads like something like steam.
Physical: people still have working Red/Blue carts. They do not fit in new consoles though.
Winner: if you keep consoles the Physical. If Nintendo retains a record of your digital purchases and allows you to download old games on future consoles Digital looks good but no old save.

    Resale (if you grow bored....)
    Digital: none
Physical: pokemon games hold price well (even with counterfitters). Expect to get 15-25 back.
    Winner: No contest

Overall winner: Physical easily. Until digital is prices to compete and gets some exclusive digital deluxe offers and maybe a save server side option physical wins by landslide.

I'm getting the cartridge. There's just something about holding a tiny chip you've put maybe 180 or so hours into between your fingers. Plus, there's a reason why people watch unboxing videos. It just feels so...magical to open the box of a game, especially one you've been waiting for since it was announced.

I'm going to get the retail version for all the games I care about, and download all of my experimental games. Plus, downloading takes a shit-ton of space.

Wow this is kind of a hard coice. I was thinking retail because the feeling of having a pokémon game on my 3ds at all times would be so conveinent for me and I feel it would bring me closer to my gane, having the abillity to just play it at any time. But with retail, the excitement of getting and opening the case, and gazing upon the gane I've awaited to buy for so long always makes me happy. Also if my 3ds gets busted I'm Muked.

I really enjoy having multiple different games on my 3DS at a time, and taking individual game cards around is just not practical and I feel like I'm going to lose them.

Having said that, digital is usually AU$69.95 whereas retail is generally $10 less that that, and I'm much more swayed by price. Until digital prices are closer to physical ones, I'm sticking with physical.

Am I the only who's had the thought that these games might actually not receive a digital release? Call me crazy, but I think there's a good chance TPC could talk Nintendo out of it. Consider for a moment what could be done by copying the digital copy's save file. You could potentially duplicate your entire Pokemon collection and then some.

There's a reason why Pokemon Colosseum and XD on the GameCube both had copy protected saves, after all.

I always get the physical copies. Because...
I switch DS's a lot. I keep both of them with me, in case one dies, or I wanna trade Pokemon
I like opening up the new game andSMELIING IT reading the instructions. There's a nice feel to it.
    Physical copies are cheaper.
I don't have wifi, so I can't download it anyways. It's more of an inconveinence for me.

Physical because I don't trust my connection to let a download run long enough to get the entire Pokemon game.

Also, I switch DSes a lot too: one for stand-alone play and one for online play.
