Seriously though, I'm guessing that Homika is the second Gym Leader, because Venipede doesn't evolve into Whirlipede until level 22 (and after her guitar, if she only has a Venipede I'll be disappointed). Sure, she could use a Scolipede and be the third Gym Leader, but I don't think two Pokémon is enough for a third Gym Leader.

Personally, I expect that the majority of the gyms will be the same as in BW - according to the map, the only areas that are covered up that had gyms are Striaton City and Nacrene City, so we have their replacements already. Then while the gyms will probably stay in the same location, I imagine we might see another leader change or two (such as Iris becoming the Opelucid Gym Leader in Black as well).

I also agree with The Outrage, I don't get why people would hate him, judging by design I already like him better than Wallace and Juan combined...

I don't get why people like the new poison leader though, but that could be because she's a poison leader.

In the Rival Vs. screen, you can see that you'll battle him on top of the lookout platform in Hiougi City. That's probably the first battle!

His pants look kinda Gyarados-themed, so I hope Magikarp makes a return.

I liked Homika. Rocker girl with freckles and a Scolipede guitar. And she's left-handed (don't ask why, but I think that makes her more special in a way)

I'm hoping that the PC and Rival are graduates from Trainer School. It would be a fairly new set-up as to why they go on their journey.

I'm also thinking they're 13-14 years old. I know they look younger than Hilbert and Hilda but Caitlin looked that young at 14. I also assumed Silver was around that age given a ten year old was mistaken as him three years earlier (and he looked older than Ethan).

Also, I've made a commentary on nearly everyone else's attire. Anyone notice that Rival's pants suddenly get tight near the bottom of his legs? It's almost as if he's also wearing shorts and tights, except he wore the tights on the outside. And judging by the PC and Rival character's clothes...Brendan's a trend setter.

Yeah, I can't wrap my head around the rival's pants, they go from baggy to tight. If they were baggy throughout though, hot damn. Love his purple c-gear, the best color for one ever. The girl also has yellow ones based on her short/skirt/thing so that's cool I guess. The boy though, gotta say its catching on. That stripe on the leggings further cements the theory of it being a swimsuit on the inside, as its the same stripe as Shizui's.

I keep getting the ninja pants vibe from the Rival's pants. I kinda hope the PCs are wearing swimsuits, and that it somehow comes into play in-game, like maybe your outfit changes while surfing or something equally trivial, lol.

That, or they just wanted to get silly with the boys outfit. Although those sunvisors, combined with a wetsuit/bikini, can't really complain if they do it for the dive portions. And yeah, Ninja was the first thing I thought about the guy.

This just hit me - how many Gym Leaders changed between RGBY/FRLG and HGSS? Only two - Janine and Blue replaced Koga and Giovanni.

What if these games are trying to emulate that and these two new Gym Leaders are the other two new ones we see?

The thing is, those were replacements within the cities. I'm starting to think that the Unova League is structured very differently from the Japan-based region leagues. They give you a choice on which Elite 4 to battle, so why not have more than 8 gym leaders and give a choice on who to battle there as well? Homika's probably an early gym meaning she's in that South West portion. There's nothing to suggest that area didn't always have a gym leader.

The Trainer school in Hyougi City has the same statues as the Gyms in BW & BW2 (Shizui's gym has them).
=> Hyougi's Trainer school
=> All BW's gym has them outside and ONLY GYMS.
=> Striaton's Trainer school DOESN'T have them.

So Hyougi City HAS A GYM. Trainer School IS the Gym, like striaton's gym was a RESTAURANT.

Perhaps Homika's gym isn't the first, but the second (She have only two Pokémon, but Lenora also had only two in BW)
