No, it was actually confirmed he was a Normal-type gym leader.

He could still have a bigger goal, but after contemplating what he wants to do with himself, he aims for a more realistic position as a gym leader.

I don't think it has anything to do with realistic goals, as he did prove himself against the Elite Four. I think he genuinely wants to impart his knowledge to young trainers and help others grow.

God Bianca's homely as fuck. She was pretty unattractive before, but now she just looks awful. And she got fat. Cheren looks about the same.

So we didn't get updated art for Steven, so looks like even though it's like 4 years later anyone from Hoenn isn't going to be coming back updated. That's disappointing.

It seems Cheren is trying out contacts now. He looks pretty darn full of himself for someone using a Patrat.

I thought the redesigns of Cheren and Bianca are quite neat. Bianca had a huge upgrade for the better, in my opinion, and Cheren looks very different, but I am digging his specs-less look. It makes him look a lot better. I do find it odd that he picks up Normal-type as his specialty, since that's not really special, although I support the idea of Normal being the first type you battle against in your quest.

Also, maybe Cheren gave Bianca glasses? Just an uneducated guess.
