just added two more shiny claunchers to my list. this is so much fun and less of a pain than poke radar chaining. XD *edit* make that three just got another but trading it for a charizardite y wewt! XD

Just added Horsea and Carvana to my list. so much fun I may try to get a shiny of every fishable pokemon.

Need a bit more clarification. If I don't reel in a Pokemon, or reel it in too slowly, does the chain break? I'll probably go and try this later :D. Free(ish) shinies! Watch as the demand for shiny water types implodes!

Yeah if you reel in too slowly the chain breaks, also if you don't reel in a pokemon. It's best to have a Suction Cups ability pokemon at the front of your party (doesn't matter if it's fainted) and fish as close as you can to a rock. This will guarantee you bites every time.

I'm trying this now, hoping for a shiny Skrelp... despite everyone else's luck of finding shinies this gen I still have yet to see one. I was very lucky in Diamond, though. After 400 hours logged it seemed like I was running into wild shinies every couple of hours.

Will post back here soon with results...hopefully ;3

Wow, it really DOES work....I got my Skrelp at a chain of 15! I broke another chain before that, which I wasn't counting--but if I had to guess I'd say it was at least 30. Moved to a different location facing a big rock, and there he was... :'3 from this day forth he shall be known as Fukaiso.

You're running after something that you'll never kill; if this what you want, then fire at will...

I managed to get a chain of 24 going earlier, but had to go to work so I stopped at that - no luck yet with catching a shiny yet via that method or using the radar, I might try again later, though ^^.

I've managed to get seven shinies through fishing so definitely the easiest way to catch them. Did find a shiny combee within an hour of playing but that was definitely luck

Got a shiny Relicanth and shiny Skrelp using this method! Fishing in a rocky corner seemed to help.

This seems nice, and easier than pokéradar! But, does it work with the super rod only or is it possible to use the other rods also?

I could confirm as well. I caught a shiny Horsea after about 20-30 trials.

My highest streak was 193 which was when I finally got a shiny Horsea. Took ages but afterwards I got another just 10- chains in. :) And got two shiny Claunchers a few days ago!
