Thread: Your favorite 2nd form starter

I'd say: Wartortle, Quilava, Grovyle, Monferno and Dewott. Since they are part of the starters I chose, they are my favourite 2nd stages by consequence.

Dewott, Quilava, Bayleef, and Wartortle stand out design-wise.

Of those, I'd say Dewott is my favorite.

I'm torn between Quilava and Dewott. The Quilava choice stems from my boundless love for the Cyndaquil line, but I think Dewott's design is really clean and well thought out. And badass.

I'd probably have to go for Bayleef (always been a fan of the Chikorita line) Grovyle (based on its cool look) and Wartortle, which is more of a sentimental pick.

I like Wartortle because I was always confused about those weird puffy things by its ears, as well as the fact that they spell the "turtle" in its name with an "o" for no reason...

But I also like Bayleef because I love Ash's Bayleef in the anime. "bbBAY!"

Wartortle is my favorite. I love the Squirtle line the most of all the starters. Other second form starters that I like are Quilava, Croconaw, and Dewott. I tend to think of the second forms as the "awkward teenager" stage of the line, because I often think they are the ugliest of the starter lines.

Grovyle wich is better than sceptile (My opinion)

Servine, because anything is the Snivy family looks so classy and fabulous.

Watortle and Quilava are tied. I think they both look adorable.

voted for grovyle & dewott because i think those are the two that look a lot better design-wise than their fully evolved counterparts.
grovyle has those simple, neat-looking leaf-blades & an overall sleek appearance whereas sceptile just looks rather awkward... the yellow balls (?) on its back always bewildered me.
dewott manages to be both cute and fairly badass at the same time. you can definitely see the concept of a samurai behind its design. samurott, on the other hand, just seems like an odd progression in evolution. we go from an otter-based pokemon to one based on a sea lion? alright then... :/

Quilava and Croconaw

Quilava definitely owns. I like how the flames could be regarded as "hair" XDD
Grovyle because of his speedy looking frame.
Combusken cuz I find it cute XDD Looks like a kid wearing chicken clothing.
Prinplup - no reason. I just like the Piplup family XDD
Servine cuz it looks sleek and slender and sharp
Dewott for having two shell blades, and definitely looking more impressive than Oshawott.

Charmeleon, Grovyle and Dewott.
The three of them look absolutely better than their final forms.

Croconaw and Pignite are easily the worst ones.

I have mad love for Croconaw. It was just so boss lookin' in Crystal compared to big, ugly Feraligatr. I kept my starter as a Croconaw. I trained him to level 75+ until I stopped playing. The battery likely died by now...


I also quite like Wartortle because of its ears and tail; they resemble sea foam / bubble waves. In one run in FRLG, I kept my starter as a Wartortle. I went to look at the sprites and omg I had no idea its BW2 sprite looks so polished.

No Grotle love AT ALL? Wow. I enjoy him but I limit myself to a few when voting so I did not vote for him.

I voted -

Ivysaur - my favorite of all. Just looks so amazing. I wish that I could find him in the wild.

Bayleef - Same as Ivysaur just not quite as amazing looking. I am in the middle of SS with a Bayleef that I love and am thinking of not evolving.

Prinplup - I just think it is adorable and quite useful.


The middle evolution tends to be my favorite. I always fall for the "you are so ugly you are cute" things, although some of these are generally cute :)
