Excuse me, I would just like to point out: IRONy. Lol.
Also, think about your favorite type. Does it fit your personality?
I personally really like Crasher Wake. He's a big rough and tumble guy like all the fighting type trainers, but no, he's a water trainer. With what seems to be a Luchador mask! Fantastic!

I think instead of a quote, I might just start listing the number of people whose signatures contain quotes by me. My goal is to be in ALL OF THEM.
If any of you read the anime about Bugsy.. You should know that Gold mistaked him as a girl and tried asking him out for a date in the Ruins of Alph... WTF
From Bulbapedia
In Pokémon Adventures, Bugsy is a ruins explorer. He meets Gold at the Ruins of Alph, who at first mistakes the Gym Leader for a girl and asks him out on a date. When he reveals he is a boy he tells Gold that he is looking for his missing companions who were helping him study the ruins. The two of them then run into Team Rocket and accidently awaken the Unown. After being cornered by a Spinarak's Spider Web Explotaro used Smokescreen to get the Unown in the web and take out their anger on Team Rocket. Bugsy then left the cave with his companions, ecstatic about his new discovery.

I like Candice for being an Ice Type trainer with a hot blooded personality, compare to Pryce who is what you would expect an Ice Type Trainer to be like. So I don't mind it when either Game Freak or OLM give the characters an ironic twist by making them the opposite, I say if you make someone the stereotype of what they're chosen type is, that's boring thing you can do with the characters.
If people can't be responsible for the language they use, then they oughn't be allowed to speak. Being a "little girl" has nothing to do with being a gym leader, yet he felt it necessary to add the diminuitive and emphasize her gender. He was not stating that she was female in order to make a factual statement: he was making an assertion contingent on his allegation that she is a "shy little girl."
Further, I did not suggest that the thread author was sexist but rather that his intimations were. Your hyperbole (and nigh strawman) treads little water here.

I always thought that Surge guy from the first games was pretty funny.
I mean, he's an army guy, so you'd expect him to fight with physical, tanky, powerhitters. No, instead his main Pokemon is an electric rat.
"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
How about we mention the fact that Jasmine is actually an adult Gym leader, older than actual little girl gym leaders likeBugsyLiza.
Basically, the statement should have merely been "We have a shy Gym Leader as a Steel trainer".
Like I mentioned, if your shy, your defenses are usually up, hence Steel types.
I personally like having gym leaders with natures that outwardly appear contradictory to the types they represent. It'd be boring if all the leaders fit the outright stereotypes. As it is, most of them do have at least some personality link to their respective types. For example, like many have pointed out, Jasmine is fairly shy, thus outwardly defensive, like most Steel Pokémon tend to be.

Hey, Crasher Wake ain't relaxed and flowing. But who cares? I train flying, dragon, water, grass, electric, and normal Pokémon and my personality doesn't fit all of them.

Roaring rapids and raging water falls, those waters aren't calm.
This topic isn't talking about whether real people train Pokemon that fit their personality, its about in-game characters who are actually thematically created. Using yourself as a point in an argument means nothing.
I always thought of the final gym leader to be mature...Clair wasn't really mature after that loss plus Kingdra kept KOing me a lot! Plus I thought a draogn type leader could just be mature and give the badge out lol
