Umm absolutely not do you know how mean kids are today. Though how some have recently said a couple names like Roselia and Altaria are a little acceptable but are more for girls.

i don't ever plan on having kids so i won't be doing that but if other future parents want to..go ahead pfft.
not their first name, but definitely their middle name. they could go around telling people their middle name is Charizard or Glameow or Espeon :ksmile:
When I first saw this thread I was all "lolwut, is this for real?", some stuff here really made me laugh. But for a serious answer, no. I would for my pet, though (if I had one, which I don't...oh wait, I just remembered I used to have a goldfish which I named Charr after Charmander)
Nope, I couldn't bring myself to name a kid after a Pokemon, for the reasons mentioned above. Heaven help the poor middle-aged guy who can't get a living because his name is Oddish Victreebel. ^^'
Well, Roselia does sound like it could be a name, and Rose could be a nickname of that. I'll even argue that Kirlia might be a good name, but no. I wouldn't put my child though that. XD
I'd rather save up Pokémon names from naming children names. If can, I could use them as nicknames instead. Or even for company or gang names, such as Kabushiki-gaisha Tyltalis, or Eievui Zaibatsu, or even Kaiorga Zoku.
There are a couple that could be deemed as acceptable but I wouldn't call my kid Dragonite.
By the time i end up having kids , and they get to an age where their names would 'matter' , pokemon would probably have stopped being made.That said it probably wouldnt be as bad if you used just a part of their name or a name that sounds foreign rather then...a video game character. By that i mean something like Pika , Zorua , Eevee (can say its based on Eve? lol) sandi...(...ile haha). How silly :P.
Japanese Pokémon names can be weird if used as names for kids. How funny if Japanese Pokémon names are used for pets, kids, or anything else. However, I do prefer using them as nicknames or usernames.Quote:

Well, if it's well hidden, like Kat Arpy, Joe Teon, Zoe Rua, or Dee Ling, that could be somewhat socially acceptable, but you can imagine what the poor kids will go through when somebody figures it out. And I'm sure we can all agree nobody names their kid Muk.
I'd never name my child after a Pokemon. It just seems like someone who hasn't fully matured in their decision making would do. I mean, sure it'd be cute and funny at the time when they're babies but when they get into school they'd be a flashing red light for bullies and cruel jokes. Heck, my first name is spelled different from the norm and every time a teacher would ask me how to pronounce it I'd get laughed at. And I have a normal name! I could just imagine how that poor child would feel every new year having to say "Yeah, my name is Tepig."
Roselia is the only name off the top of my head that could work as a 'normal name'. But even then, there's already perfectly normal names like Rosemary, Rose Marie, and just plain Rose that would work perfectly well if you wanted to name your daughter after a rose. You could even go with Rosie if you wanted the name to be cute and bubbly.
Even giving your kid a nickname after a pokemon seems like it would be an awful idea. Especially if you let it slip in front of his or her friends and they passed it on to everyone else. Then again, I'm against even naming a pet after a fictional character. |: So I might just be a wee bit paranoid.
Kirlia. Absolutely. It's something I'd name my daughter whether it's the name of a Pokemon or not. It's cute and it starts with a K (which is very important to me.)
I'll never do that to my kids. It would be pretty immature from my part, and I can imagine my parents yelling at me, asking me why did I called my son "Noctowl Wednesday". I bet I wouldn't even be able to register the kid, let alone baptise him with that name. Also, my surname is already pretty odd, so it's a no-no for me.
My first male child shall bear my first name, just as I bear my father's name, and my grandfather's, and my grand-grandfather's... and my grand-grand-grandfather's...
If they misbehave, yes.
