They're gonna come up with as many Pokemon as the many undiscovered animal species and creatures of our world so I doubt they will run out of ideas any time soon.

Mmmmmmm....great. Like if 3rd gen wasn't bad enough. *only liked like 30%*
Uh, but clearly the sales indicate the new Pokemon are either liked or don't detract from sales, so I don't see why people use the excuse of "I don't like them!" as a reason to say GF won't make more.
I'll say what I've said in SPPf. Those who are convinced this is the last generation either want to stop playing Pokemon, but are way too emotionally attached to stop playing on their own and would rather have it taken way from them, or are afraid that in the future games, they will end up hating what gave them so much joy and would rather it end now.
there're more reasons than just that, actually. You gotta consider that for the video game completionists, it is a bit overwhelming to try collecting 500 monsters with each generation (a number which never subtracts, only adds... you see, Pokemon's somewhat unique amongst games in that it has a massive character roster that manages to remain completely intact with each "sequel"), let alone raising some of them. I think it would be nice if, much like Mario, the franchise slowed down a bit and focused more on spin-off games (doesn't anyone else think they should just take the 500 character roster we already have and let us use them in alternative gameplay methods aside from the turn-based RPG system? This is pretty much the main reason I praise Mystery Dungeon: it's the first spin-off to successfully take every Pokemon and their attacks and convert them to a different method of gameplay). Though, as I've seen some people mention (and as Habunake further convinced me), there are still several ideas that Game Freaks could use... a 6th generation may be pushing it, though.
Yup, classes again. I'm gonna be at this for a while.
6th Gen! *dies* x.X
I hope they don't stop making more Pokemon, because that would b very sad
:{
And with brilliant minds like the creator's I know their bond to think of something.

I'd say there will be a point when new pokemon would just be not fesable.
For example, in real life animals, you can get species e.g. "Fox" and in this, you get "Fennec Fox" or "Arctic Fox" both being different and cool in their own way, even though they belong to the same family. But, if you get pokemon with similar types e.g. "Seal Pokemon" or "Mouse Pokemon" eventually yhey would become boring I think.
But I hope it does not stop for a long time
Guys, incase you haven't noticed by now, they don't use only animal ideas. They borrow from a variety of sources.
Plants, inanimate objects, fighting styles, occupations, abstract concepts, antrhopomorphic personifications, primal fears, deepest desires... All of them are fair game when it comes to inventing Pokémon.
Plus it's possible to take a concept that's used before and reapply it in different directions. For example, we now have three separate families of cat Pokémon. All of them are normal typed and all of them have a snobby air to them, however, each of them are different enough to be distinct from the other two:
Meowth/Persian: They're based on those lucky cat statues you see in chiniese shop windows. They also look like siamiese cats and have an affilation with money. They're also cream coloured.
Skitty/Delcatty: This family represents the extra cute side of kittens and cats. In addition to this, they also have elements that make them seem like Hoenn's answer to Kanto's Clefairy. (They both evolve with a moonstone, both are primarly pink and both learn an attack that generates random effects: Clefairy has metronome and Skitty has Assist.)
Glameow/Purugly: These tabbies make themselves different in that they have distinct body shape to them. Glameow is extra thin while Purugly is ridiculous obese. Both are also extra snobby. They're also teal and white in colour.

Yeah, I don't know why people think they will stop. Even though the number is a little overwhelming, for me at least. I kind of fell out of the fandom after gold and silver (partially because I did not buy a GBA). I returned to the fandom at the end of the third gen. So just as I was getting used to the new ones, BOOM 100 more.
Even so, I hope they continue to make more. I would like kids (and adults) for generations to come to enjoy pokemon. One thing I hope they refrain from doing is making the some of the old Kanto/Johto pokemon obsolete from a battle standpoint by making new ones have better/ more desirable stats. I don't want people to forget about the oldies. I guess that is why the fourth gen added so many evolutions to Gen 1 pokemon.

No kidding...I love the first gen, but new generation pokemon just seem to be getting more and more desirable to use in terms of battling. Not to mention the fact that hardly any first-gen pokemon are made available in-game anymore, and the ones that are are usually the not-so-good ones.
I highly doubt that GameFreak will run out of ideas for new pokemon in gens to come, though. I mean, I never could have imagined the sheer variety with which new pokemon are being created, and there's SO much more to draw from! Look at all the ideas fans have created, for example! If we can come up with it, surely the designers can as well!

Chapter 10

Probably not. By this time in maybe 3 years there'll be another sinnoh-dex-full of new pokemon in Japan, i'm guessing. The better question is-will there be a new console that they can make home in?
Not for another 5 years (at least), folks. I mean, look at the distance between the date Game Cube was released and the date Wii was released!
:bawling:Sad but true.
