Note, though, that he said "Champion from the Hoenn region". He didn't say he was the Champion OF the Hoenn region. It's possible that Wallace is still Champion at the time of HGSS, which is why Steven is there, and not Wallace.Originally Posted by Paperfairy
EDIT: Realized that last sentence did not make sense. Allow me to rephrase. OTL Steven is there as a Champion of Hoenn, giving away Hoenn starters, right? If he actually was the CURRENT Champion, would he really have time to be giving away those starters? I'm probably just spinning more yard that makes no sense, but like with Red and Blue, he's still referred to as a Champion because he has yet to gain a new one or something. Like Blue is now Gym Leader and all.
The Shirona thing can't count, since it only happens with an event...er, right?

For now, I have claimed: Mewtwo, Member's Card, Wide Lens, Honey Gather, and Psystrike.
He also says THE Champion, not A Champion.
Meh. Both are equally valid, and we also don't know what the EXACT Japanese text says. English translation has proven unreliable. (Silver/Giovanni). Personally, I'd say he and Wallace share the title in the same manner that Lance/Ethan/Lyra and Red do.
don't like something? fix it. stop complaining about it.
"THE champion FROM", not "THE champion OF".
But that is true. D8 Someone should find the Japanese text, and see what he says there.

I still can’t believe my dragons lost to you, Red! You’re now the Pokémon League champion! …Or, you would have been, but you have one more challenge ahead. You have to face another Trainer! His name is… Blue! He beat the Elite Four before you. He is the real Pokémon League champion! -Lance
I think blues the coolest champion but i also believe that red wants his title back as the main champion of johto and kanto
I always got the Vibe from the Games that after you beat the Champion, you surrendered the Title so you could finish your Journey.
Well everyone in the old Elie 4, Red and Oak knew as well. If I recall, Oak was actually going to the league to congratulate his grandson since he comments on how by the time he got there, Blue was already defeated. Quite embarrassing indeed. Not even a whole day.
Makes me wonder if Oak was actually the last champion, retired and no one was able to beat the Elite 4 after him.

I think you are still considered Champion, but you let the old champ fill your place while you continue to have adventures.
Secret butt fun!

In Soviet Bulbagarden, anime is butthurt over all aspects of YOU!

Oak as the champion would`ve been very unexpected and awesome..Coming to the topic as many have suggested they may have just given up their positions and may not have legitimately lost the title in a battle

Whoops. But indeed, it would have been quite awesome.
