Default What would a perfect Pokemon fighting game be like?

    Topic.

I'd have to say a Pokemon Fighting game running on a modified Brawl Engine (four specials, a final attack, knocking the opponent off the edge) would be neat.

The game would be based on the Anime, meaning all the playable characters would be ones that play a substantial role in the series, and the stages would be various locales from their.

The starting roster would be comprised of the Main Character DP Roster (prentending if the game came out now). This would equal 19, but there would be 60 Playable Characters in all (from various seasons) leaving 41 to be unlocked. Each character is grouped by their trainer (Team Rocket counts as one) and the Trainer wouldn't come into play except during their PokeBlast (more on that later).

    Pikachu (Ash)
    Meowth* (Team Rocket)
    Turtwig (Ash)
    Chimchar (Ash)
    Buizel (Ash)
    Staravia** (Ash)
    Gligar (Ash)
    Piplup (Dawn)
    Buneary (Dawn)
    Pachirisu (Dawn)
    Ambipom (Dawn)
    Sudowoodo (Brock)
    Croagunk (Brock)
    Happiny (Brock)
    Wobbuffet*** (Team Rocket)
    Mime Jr. (Team Rocket)
    Carnivine (Team Rocket)
    Seviper (Team Rocket)
    Dustox** (Team Rocket)

*Meowth would use various weapons since he himself is limited with attacks.
** Dustox and Staravia, the "airborne" Pokemon wouldn't actually fly per se, but would always be hovering slightly above the ground. They'd have alot of jumps, but to make up for it low defense.
*** Wobbuffet would only know counter moves, making him "skill character"

The Secret Characters would have a wide array of unlockable methods.

    Ash Pokemon
    Bulbasaur
    Squirtle
    Charizard
    Snorlax
    Heracross
    Sceptile

Sounds fun ... would training in training mode affect the pokemon once you play the other modes, kinda like in the DBZ games? I'd hate to practice with pokemon only to dump them for "rentals" when actually playing.

Huh, well, I've had plans for a game for the Wii that combines a battle mode with a story mode, only focusing on the pokemon, and based (Mostly) on the anime. In story mode, the player starts at a "hub" where they can buy suplies, get mail, and play mini games. The story starts like this: The player chooses the pokemon they are based on Ash's pokemon.
However, not all of the pokemon (Mostly the strong ones, like Sceptile and Charizard) are
playable charactors in story mode, and because of there power, are only unlockable in battle mode. the playable pokemon are:

    Pikachu
    Bulbasaur
    Squirtle
    Chimchar
    Staravia
    Turtwig
    Gligar
    Torkoal
    Butterfree
    Buizel
    Corphish
    Totodile
    Cyndaquil
    Bayleaf

The story starts in the player's house in the hub. The player recives mail that contains a free invitation to the local museum from there personal mail bird, Honoka's Wingul. After making there way to the Museum, the player finds the receptionist (Gary's Aerodacytl, as
holding the pokeball pointer over her will reveal) asleep. The player talks to Aero and wakes her up, only to be startled by the loud yelling of someone in the Museum. There is a cut sceen where the player and Aero run to where the yelling is comming from, finding that Sugar has had her things stolen by a heckling pair of Pichu. The player teams up with Gary's Umbreon (In charge of the Museum) to find them. When the player does find them, they alone fight the Pichu bros. This isn't as easy as it seems considering the player starts at level five regardless of pokemon. The Pichu bros are both at level 3 and know Tail whip, thundershock, and sweet kiss. After the player defeats the Pichu bros, and returns the things they stole from Sugar, Umbreon explains why he brought the player here. He's recruiting the player for a series of missions, trying to meet new pokemon on a trip around the world. By new pokemon he means diffrent pokemon of each speices. He gives the player a device known as a "Profile reader" that records info on many different pokemon.
On the profiler, you should already have the pokemon you ment proir to getting it, plus yourself. After this, you take a trip to diffrent regains, meeting pokemon and gaining tickets to unlock new areas. There are three modes of play:

    Three phase fight:
    Cut sceen.
    Mini game
    Cut sceen.
Maze battle (going through a maze and fighting pokemon along the way)
    Cut sceen.
Boss fight (battle with the main enemy(s) on that level.
    Cut sceen.
    Get rewards
    -return to map-

    Hide-and-fight
    Cut sceen
here, the player seeks out the openents to fight them.
    Cut sceen
    Rewards
    -return to map-

    Tortement style:
    The name says it all.
    _____________________________________
The other thing is battle mode, here, like you want, you fight with many of the pokemon
from the game. These pokemon come on teams, however, for Ash's pokemon, the teams are divided into:

    Retro team:
    Bulba
    Pikachu
    Charizard
    Pigeot
    Squirtle

    Side team:
    Primeape
    Muk
    Kingler
    Heracross
    Snorlax

    Silver team:
    Bayleaf
    Cyndaquil
    Totodile
    Noctowl
    Donphan

    Bond team:
    Corphish
    Sceptile
    Swellow
    Glalie
Ambipom (Yes, I know, but it's on Dawn's team as well)

    Gold path team:
    Buizel
    Chimchar
    Turtwig
    Gligar
    Staravia

After you choose the team you play as, you choose you opponent team, and the fight starts.

Well, then you would get your wish, because Gary's pokemon are a playable team in battle
    mode.

    Other battle mode teams:

    Gary's team:
    Electivire
Umbreon (battle the proffesor!, Cause ya know he kinda fills that role in this game)
    Blastiose
    Aero
    Arcanine

    Dawn's team

    May's team:
    Blaze
    Buetifly
Bulba (But it has different abilites then Ash's Bulba)
Squirtle (I know what your gonna say, no buts.)
    Skitty

    Misty's team:
    Phsyduck (What else?)
Togetic (This is my dream, the fandom's obsiness is non exsistent here)
    Staryu
    Starmie
    Azurill

    Brock's team:
    Steelix
Gravaler (I DID say it was PRETTY MUCH based on the anime, didn't I?)
    Crobat
Happiny (Like with Phsyduck, this is enevitable, but this is no ordinary Happy where talkin'
'bout either, it's stronger then normal like in the show, but you can imagine how weird this could look next to Steelix. you have to keep an eye on it, because it's a crafty little thing too)
    Croagunk (Durr)

    Unlockable extras:
Unlockable extras are enemy teams and fights with certain winning paterns, like battle sims. They include the pokemon of a few Npcs from the game, and a suprising champ battle at the end.

    Orre speical fight:
    Shroomish
    Pikachu
    Espeon
    Umbreon
    Eevee

    Fiore speical fight:
    Fearow
    Pelipper
    Dodrio
    Skarmory
    Plusle
    Minun

Orange Islands fight: (Ment to be relativley hard)
    Lapras
    Blastiose
    Dragonite
    Scyther
    Ditto
    Garyados

Champ fight (A surprise easter egg!):
    Pikachu x2
    Milotic
    Swampert
    Torrtera
    Infernape
    Empoleon

Look hard, the easter egg is there. Think of the 2 Pikachu.

To be honest, I've had King K. Rool's idea of a Pokemon game just like the Super Smash Bros. series since first playing with Pikachu in the first Super Smash Bros. all those years ago!! Man, that would just rule!! :D

About the Easter Egg, in the "Champ Fight," since there are x2 Pikachu, that would make 7 Pokemon on the Champ's Team, along with Milotic, Swampert, Torrtera, Infernape, & Empoleon... I think...

A Smash-style Fighter based on the anime...

A player could have 4 specials and standard attacks, but specials have limited PP (random items will drop, so you could pick up a Leppa Berry...). Pokémon receive damage based on strengths and weaknesses (so Pikachu's side special, Volt Tackle, would knock its teammate Staravia silly, and would instant-KO Misty's Gyarados).

To simulate the team mechanic, you borrow an element from KOF: you have to pick three Pokémon, and you choose the order using the standard, special, and guard buttons before the match begins (and any KO brings in the next Pokémon). Special ending if you pick three Pokémon from the same team, or other weird combinations (the love team of Pikachu, Buneary, and either Aipom or Pachirisu, the forever rivals team of Pikachu, Blastoise, and Torterra, etc.). To switch in/out, you'd have to perform a special action (B on the sideways remote, Z on the remote + nunchuk, ZL on the classic, and Z on the GC controller, with the button for the Pokémon).

Stages include various Gyms and other major battlegrounds. In the adventure mode, the stages are between various side-scrolling portions where you defeat wild Pokémon for EXP, powering up your Pokémon (for adventure mode only). Special modes include boss battles (one-on-one with legendary Pokémon), Elite Four mode (6-on-26 action! Healing only after every 5th Pokémon up to the 20th!), Survival Mode (Mt. Battle! 1-on-100!) and an option to upload your team from the main games (for adventure mode, so you can train your Pokémon's EXP and EVs in a whole new way!).

    YES.

A Pokemon fighter on a Smash Bros. engine has been something I've wanted since Smash Bros. existed. There's always a small chance it might officially happen - I mean, they've tried other things like Dash and that odd little arcade game using tokens as of late.

(Note: I saw this topic on this section's page 1; don't accuse me of necro, ok?)

As for my idea of a Pokemon fighting game...

Tier list: I think it's necessary, due to the fact that the PvP handheld sessions tend to use pseudo-legendaries...

Legendary --> Pseudo-legendary --> No Weakness --> One Weakness... you get the picture.

Basis: I do agree on using the anime universe as its setting. As a result, every installment would be based by series.
    1. I thought Gardenia is a Grass-type fangirl; in addition, I could've sworn that she had a shippy Nando-centric flashback when the latter got framed.

    2. I'm tired of seeing Brock, being the designated eunuch of the show. As a result, I would love to see this OT3 to happen:

    Lucy x Brock x Holly

I'd rather have a Pokémon fighting game similar to God Hand.
