What are the demographics of the various adaptations?
The different manga and the anime.
Shonen or kodomo? I've noticed a lot of people describe them as shonen.
Shonen is a rather general term. It refers to elementary aged boys to teenagers. Kodomo refers to children of both gender, presumably pre-middle school aged.
Pokemon does seem popular with male kids and teenagers, but that doesn't mean that's the target demographic.
I'm certain Magical. was shojo, maybe Pokewake too.

Technically, there is no "shojo" or "shonen" animes. These terms are using for mangas in different magazines and their anime adaptations.
