I really like the system we have at the moment. Triple typings would mean a lot of pokemon would have 3 STAB which is really unfair considering that there would still be pokemon with only one type.

Like many said before, it would overcomplicate things.

It's actually true that it would complicate the battle system, so I will expand on that:

    - The Pokemon will have triple STAB. This means that in terms of offence, a triple-typed Pokemon has more powerful attacks to choose from, which will give it a huge disadvantage for mono-types. So, a Pokemon with Fire/Fighting/Dragon will often have powerful attacks, and with this many bases covered, defensive Pokemon will not be easy to use.

    - The Pokemon has more type privileges than an average Pokemon. What do I mean by this? Conventionally, certain types have access to certain moves. Water, for example, can have Water and Ice attacks, Grass Pokemon often can learn Swords Dance and Leech Seed, Rock Pokemon can learn a Ground attack. This makes the Pokemon incredibly versatile. This isn't a bad thing, but the bad thing is that the triple-typed Pokemon will overshadow many Pokemon due to this.

So basically, what I am saying here is that a Pokemon with a triple type has too much of an advantage over dual-types and mono-types. Besides, the type chart matchups will also be too complex.

    Thanks for reading.

It would take awhile to get used to.

    I wouldn't like the system...too complicated. X_X
    And triple weakness and effectiveness?

Looking at it, it will take time to get used to. I believe that if they were to create triple-typed Pokemon then it should at least take much time to level them up. Then there's the fact that I think it will make attacks half-effective. An example would be that fire is super effective towards ice, but if it was water and psychic, then it's half effective. Then there can be 1/3 effective or 1/3 not effective. Lastly, I'm seeing that triple types won't technically always be so strong because a Pokemon with horrible stats that is a triple type, won't help you at all. Types aren't everything.
x3 I also like the idea of thinking more strategically with battles if there were triple types.

If we are getting tri-type Pokémon, we get {m|Tri Attack}[small](fire/water/grass)[/small] first.

    ---

This will be interesting, but Game Freak must be careful not to let them get pwned easily.

    First 2 types get STAB
    Max 4x weakness
    Okay right...

Here's an idea: Let's create Scizor 2.0 and Kingdra 2.0.
    The first one having same stats, but being Bug/Steel/Water;
and the last one having same stats too, but being Dragon/Water/Steel.
It wouldn't be long 'till they'd actally make something like that.
And THAT, ladies and gentlemans would be just broken :/

Besides...Just thinking of triple types hurts my lil'' brains >.<
I allready have trouble forming a team with/against double teams,
    so no.

    EDIT: Or even better!
Let's give the Scizor 2.0 a fighting type.
Technician STAB Mach Punch, here we come!

Triple types would make the metagame much more confusing, and I believe that isn't necessary, even though a few Pokémon could stand to have a different type.

I'm not in favor. Triple typings would make the games confusing and overly complicated. Not to mention they'd have to retcon a lot of the old Pokémon because of it, causing even more confusion.

The current system works just fine IMO.

That would seriously mess things up. For example, Ground/Ghost/Flying pokemon with 4 immunities due to typing and 1 more thanks to ability. Do you want something like that?

Hell no. It's too much just learn all those half-types and that's enough. I won't give triples even a thought.

    Everything is possible.

No. Because then we would get people wanting a four type Pokémon.
Ir would also make it hard for the kids who play the games.
There are 10 year olds and maybe younger joining the fanbase, messing with their brain might not be the most correct move for business. (Stupid university messed up my mind to analyse everything economically...)

This would overcomplicate things, just as dual typed moves would.

    But...
    Flygon: Flying/Dragon/Ground or Bug/Ground/Dragon
    Drapion: Bug/Poison/Dark
    Charizard: Fire/Flying/Dragon
    Gyrados: Water/Flying/Dragon
    Gengar: Poison/Ghost/Dark
    Lapras: Water/Ice/Psychic

Those would be cool. Among others.
