    Um, also, Drowzee and Giratina.

Drowzee because he sucks dreams out people's noses (*shivers*)

    And Giratina for two reasons.
    1. Shortly after Diamond and Pearl came out, I made up a story where Giratina was the god of the underworld.
    2. Pokemon Platinum.
What was the story you made up?

Oh, ah well, it was kind of long but basically, it was a about a girl who gets kidnapped by this Drifloon who takes her to the Pokemon underworld and her flying Pikachu has to go rescue her.

    That couldn't have ended well.

That's quite an imagination you got there. I'd like to read it if you can dig it up.

Can't. The file was on my desktop computer and it died a couple of weeks ago. I could try to rewrite it though.

    Let's see...

Well, to start things off, the ghost of the dead Marowak was always very creepy. A Pokemon actually DIED, something that most 10 year old kids don't really want to think about. On top of that Marowak and Cubone's data can be pretty spooky, and sad. Cubone wears its dead mother's skull, and there is a possible giant Marowak graveyard. Sounds almost like an elephant graveyard, like in The Lion King, only more depressing.

Most Ghost-type Pokemon dex data can be outright frightening. The Litwick line's data is almost terrifying, using its flames to devour souls. Cofagrigus eating grave robbers or other humans and turning them into mummies makes me think twice about having one on hand. Yamask was both sad and creepy, staring into its former life's face like that. And Dusclops' empty, black hole-like void inside its body that can swallow up anything forever is a little nerve wracking. Strangely, I was never startled by Giratina's data, probably because I like Giratina a lot, and it seemed to suit it well enough that I wasn't bothered by it.

Another is Houndoom's flames. If you're burned by one, then it'll hurt forever. Talk about never-ending pain. Burn, baby, burn, I guess.

In the anime universe, Sabrina was outright frightening, and what Ash had to go through (even "dying" trying to get a Ghost-type) just to beat her was almost terrifying. Also, how Hunter J was trying to MURDER Ash every time he crossed paths with her, not just knock him out of the way, was scary. Throw in a foul-tempered Drapion and Salamence and you've got the perfect evil character. Though the fact she died (or assuming she did, as she never resurfaced when her air craft exploded underwater at Lake Valor) I was happy to see her gone, but it did leave me somewhat unsettled (since the anime had toned down, if not stopped, all forms of death outside of the movies since the OS, it seemed a little unnerving).

EDIT: Forgot one thing. How gruesome the Pokemon Adventures manga was originally showed quite the scary side to Pokemon. Like in the Lavender Town chapters; zombie Pokemon, Gastly with mind control, Arbok's acid could turn someone into mush, Charmeleon slicing said Arbok in two with gunk spilling out of the cut body, and (since the start) that it seemed KOing a Pokemon could even kill it (Graveler literally falling to pieces in the Boulder Badge chapter after getting frozen by Poliwhirl). Talk about hard-core stuff. Made me both uneasy and frightened. Especially since I was like, what, 11 or so years old at the time?

They really need to make a Rated M Pokémon game. I'm 28 and I've been playing Pokémon since it came out, and I think my age group deserves an adult themed Poémon game.

One of the dex entries for Jigglypuff says that if a person who hears its song doesn't fall asleep in time, Jigglypuff will keep singing-and since Jigglypuffs don't stop to breathe, they can suffocate themselves.

Two Abilities, Insomnia and Vital Spirit, prevent sleep.

    Nope, we don't deserve that.

It wouldn't be Pokémon any longer, don't get me wrong, I like mature games, but Pokémon they are not.

Have to say, I agree with you, @Serperior;. It would lose it's charm and vibe. While it can be gruesome and dark at times, in reality, most kids don't really care much about that stuff. Just makes it more interesting to them. It's to us older fans that we start to notice this kind of stuff more acutely, since we've been with it for so long, it just sorta "reveals" itself as we get older. Pokemon shouldn't get that mature. Fanfictions are fine at that level, as that's fan-created, which means they can let their imaginations go wild, but not main stream stuff. While it can get dark, it's all for the fun of it. So, yeah, I agree with you. Better to leave the ratings where they stand and not meddle with them.

That's my point though, I'm losing interest in Pokémon as each game gets made. I know why the games are still childish, but that doesn't mean they need to forget about its original audience. I think an adult game would be more fun IMO. There are a lot of options they could have with an adult themed game. Its never going to happen, I know. But, it still doesn't mean that an adult theme game couldn't work or be entertaining.

You're 17, you're not really part of the original audience.

They don't change it, true, but isn't that why us older fans like it? Otherwise we wouldn't be either fans OR mature.

As this thread points out, there are plenty of scary bits in Pokémon, without compromising the ratings.

I think change is a good thing. I don't think sticking to the same format over and over is a good thing. And I'm not just talking about the scary aspects of it, I'm talking about the whole experience of the game. It would be awesome to have the lead character be an adult traveling the Pokémon world. Maybe have a game where you're the Pokémon League Champion, or a gym leader.

The one thing that really freaked me out as a kid, weirdly, was Dusclops when I first played Pokémon Ruby. And, it was nothing to do with the design or Dex entries or anything, it was actually because whenever he used Curse, the pin thing kind of... went into it's nose. It just made me cringe.

Blazaking EX, thanks for the banner, you rawk.

    OK, that's a lot better.

Remember, please be respectful to other people, we're all here for the same reason and I'm sure none of us want to get into pointless arguments. So come on guys, keep it civil - play nice or don't play at all.

Lavender town scared me as a child, although it doesn't anymore.
