Why, you ask? Well, Cynthia says the player character reminds her of a young trainer who fought Giratina. Along with Looker, that suggests Diamond and Pearl aren't canon. Do you think they should've merged the storylines somehow? Like 'You remind me of a trainer who fought Dialga, Palkia and Giratina'? Or have even left it ambiguous, such as 'You remind me of a Trainer who fought to prevent the end of reality...'?

Yeah, we know. It's been discussed already in the Black and White section.

The person she was talking about must either be from a storybook, or dead, because Giratina is sort of.... I don't know.... Satan?!

Giratina's more of Hades than Satan. There's a huge difference (although I *do* want to know why it's called Renegade...).

I wonder if it's straight-up Platinum or just that event. Like how it seems like Emerald is MOSTLY the canon version, except that Steven is still champion.

I believe it's called Renegade because Arceus banished it to the Distorted World for its poor behavior. Hopefully this got cleared up now.

Er.. no he isn't it's been said in the games and by GF GIratina is the Anti-Matter pokemon not satan. IT saves the world in the game (even though it was doing it to save his home) and in the Anime it only attacked Dailga because he was pissed that Dailga and Palkia damaged his home during their little spat

And the third Gen is always the the cannon game

Yeah, but WHAT did it do?

Anyway, about third game always being canon, not really. Usually it's "mostly canon", like I mentioned.

I think the only one that's thus far been seen as all canon is Crystal.

Well Emerald and PT are definitly Canon (IT makes the most sense) I mean AHving to sumon both Dailga and Palkia to create the universe and having Groudon and Kyogre duking it out is more destructive then one alone

And Crsytal doesn't make any changeds the only difernce is that Suicune gets more attention them his brothers

I know most people think that the timeline goes RBY, GSC, FRLG, RSE, DPPt, HGSS.

But then I realised, FRLG is a remake, because it pretty much occurs at the same time as RBY. There's no indicator that those games occur later than RBY, because if FRLG occurs after GSC, then how would Cinnibar Island have been blown into a thousand pieces by a volcano and then magically been put back together for FRLG...? Also, how could Team Rocket pull the same stunts TWICE! And fail TWICE! And then same freakin story happens TWICE? FRLG can't come after RBY. They're the same thing. Same thing with GSC and HGSS, the story is more expanded on but its mostly the same thing.

So in reality, it goes RBY/FRLG, GSC/HGSS, RSE, DPPt then BW.

Except you got that wrong. No one ever thought that FRLG is takes place after GSC.

And RSE takes place before DPPt and HGSS and BW.

Actually I think that FR/LG and R/S/E all take place around the same time and then HG/SS and D/P/Pt all take place at the same time but at a different time than FR/LG and R/S/E. And I have no clue as to when B/W occur.

The events of Platinum are specifically mentioned in BW which is, you know, the main topic of the thread...

Yeah, this isn't exactly new news. We've known about this line of dialogue for months.

I think Generation I's Yellow is canon, because even though Red is named Red, he has Pikachu, Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard in GSC, all of which are specially obtainable in Yellow.

But wait, FRLG/HGSS retconned Generation I&II out of existence. Never mind.
