    An obvious one is Deoxys is named after deoxyribonucleic acid, aka DNA.

    Omanyte is based and named after ammonite, an extinct snail.

    While Hydreigon is a play on the Germanic word for three, it could also be a play on "Hydra", a mythological dragon-like five-headed lizard. Hydreigon's design is based on Yamata no Orochi, a demonic serpent from Japanese mythology that had 8 heads.

    Gengar looks like the shadows of Clefable. Also considering that their name originates from doppelganger...

    Duskull has one constant eye that rotates from side to side, giving it the Illusion of two :)

    When looking through the Gen I list of index numbers Grimer is seen right before Gengar. Considering that they are both Poison-types and that their primary basis are sludge and ghosts respectively Grimer may have evolved into Gengar due to the relationship between ghosts and ectoplasm.

    Throh and Sawk = Mario and Luigi (exactly?)
    Cofagrigus = Troll Face (if you think Gen V Pokémon are unoriginal, he'll troll you, anyway)
    Glalie = "NO" face (looks angry to me)
    Garbodor = Hulk
    Gardevoir (male) = Superman (looks close enough)
    Nosepass = Me Gusta face or "Not bad" face
    Probopass = Mario's head design with his cap
    Gallade = Ninja

    Bidoof is based on a beaver, as opposed to my original theory which was the visual culmination of all the darkest, most suppressed fears and anxieties of every little boy and girl that ever has and ever will live.

    But seriously, I actually didn't notice before that Froslass actually has a purple face with a white protective armor over it that sort of looks like a skull. Maybe the ghost Marowak evolved into Froslass... but probably not. Weird though. It sort of looks like it would be related to Duskull, though.

    Yeah, if they were painfully split open and sprouted a set of their own. =P

    And since everyone seems to be playing this game and I feel deplorably left out, I'll add my own contribution. I mean, I can't believe no one pointed this out sooner, but seriously... like... totally, if you spell Pikachu backwards, it spells Uhcakip. I mean, wow. Why would Nintendo include something like that?! Crazy secret right there!

    That's because pikachu was the first Uhcakip, that or it's most common-one of the two, either way Uhcakip was named after pikachu. In earlier artwork, and sprites Jynx has a hand on one of her breasts. The placing of Reshiram's fur thing and Heatmor's tubes, let's face it-those are not a good place. Kabuto is the name for a samurai's helmet/head plate, the pokemon Kabuto looks kind of like a helmet, and has a protective shell over it like a helmet on a samurai's head.
