Voltorb and Electrode: Drop and destroy!

I wouldn't use Pokémon in modern wars, well maybe Porygon-line for hacking the targets computer systems. But I don't think there's too many Pokémon, which would be suitable at least for modern warfare.

Personally, if Pidgeot really can fly at Mach 2, that would make a better scout...assuming it can do so at high altitudes.
I based that off of their base stats, Flygon is fast and lacks substantial defense, Salamence hits stuff HARD, and Dragonite also hits hard, but is not as fast and has better defenses.

Actually, I do. Which is why I tried to be semi-realistic with my ideas.

Speaking of which, Porygon and Magnemite would be useful for cyber-warfare.

I guess a Rhyhorn could find some use in demolitions or maybe forced entry.

As cliche as this sounds, I can imagine irregular forces using Voltorb/Electrode IEDs...Granted the fact that they are reusable and cannot be jammed like gives them an edge over normal IEDs.

I wonder if the Geneva Conventions would prohibit the use of Psychic-type pokémon?

    Ah I understand your reasoning.

Hmm, by that reasoning Dragonite would work better as a ground attack aircraft like the A-10 Avenger.

Salamence might work as an intercepter depending on its speed. It has more than enough power.

You could use psychic pokemon to guide snipers bullets to their targets.

The concept at hand isn't modern warfare, it's the tactical value of each Pokemon in a war where Pokemon are the only arsenal you have. Try not to factor in real things like tanks, naval crafts, or air crafts. Those don't really amount to much because then those things could just as easily be overturned by another Pokemon. It's better to just focus on the Pokemon element of it all.

your right. "modern" as we know it all depends on technology. Much mondern war technology may not have been devoloped in Pokemon world if they have armies of Pokemon to use.

Exploud - Make everything within a few miles or so deaf, causing earthquakes in the process.

Aggron - If Aron can demolish dump trucks in one blow and then eat them, think what these bulletproof monsters could do to tanks.

Steelix - Destroying whole towns with earthquakes.

Metagross could do some serious damage. It has Earthquake at it's disposal, plus Meteor Mash, which could probably bring down a building without too much trouble. And it's defenses are massive, and it has Reflect and Light Screen also. And, on top of that, It can explode if it gets overly damaged and won't make it back to base without fainting.

Unown can be used as cameras by sending psychic messages or opening dimension windows.

Electric types like Magneton and Magnezone are said to emit electromagnetic pulses that fry most electrically devices in the area.

I was going to suggest Aron to eat the enemies' weapons inventory, but if we're only using Pokemon?

What about using swarms of Bug Pokemon to destroy your enemy's crops? Suddenly Bedrill isn't NU anymore.

Good thinking. War is about cutting off your enemies resources as much as it is defeating them.
