Well it's undertsandible they would have so many similarites like Ghaskan said the re based on the same concept both are good though

Sparrowmon here caused a bit of a ruckus over how similar it looked to the Lati@s.

i always thought Blaziken and Garudamon kinda looked alike xD;

Wikimon actually has a running gag regarding Sparrowmon's uncanny resemblance; whenever they're making a quick, sarcastic placeholder for a Xros Wars plot summary, they refer to Sparrowmon as "Shiny Latias".

This reminds me of another similar topic...

Anyway, the only thing I am worried about comparing Pokemon to Digimon, because it gives the haters evidence that Pokemon look like Digimon, although that will be a poor argument. I do not know much Digimon myself, so I can't really contribute any comparisons.

Some Digimon look like Pokemon, though (Sunflowmon and Sunflora spring to mind).

As a kid I thought that Machop and Agumon are kinda similar to each other. The face, the short tail...

If that's what you're worried about, it already started. Even non-fans have compared Pokemon and Digimon since the birth of both. Both series has -mon in their name, so IMO a clash of originality is inevitable.

Well, the comparing is not my worry, because it's bound to happen, since the concepts they share are nothing new. It's their "evidence" that Pokemon ran out of ideas that is the case. However, this kind of "evidence" is easily debunked.

These are due to similar origins (except for maybe one or two I'm not so sure), like I said, but it's fun to look at the different design approaches.

Mmm... :/ Some are recolored to look more alike... Raremon is grey, not purpleish, Swanmon has no blue at all and Seahomon's blue is darker than that. But that aside, those are good comparisons.

Now, lets compare how Raremon and Muk(well, Grimer) were born:

Muk/Grimer(Sludge pokémon): It was born when sludge in a dirty stream was exposed to X-rays from the moon.


Raremon(Undead): It tried to prolong its lifespan by mechanizing its body, but the constitution data couldn't handle it and began to collapse. However, rather than dying altogether, due to its partly mechanical body, it has remained alive albeit with a grotesque appearance.

Wow, those pics are nice. In some cases, resemblances can be seen very easily.
