TwitterPokémon creepypasta is the only creepypasta I read. I wrote this one after reading a few others like it. Not the most orginal to be honest. It's about Marowak and Cubone, so take a wild guess. Any criticism is welcome as long as you keep a civil tone. Enjoy.
I’m the best Pokémon breeder in my neighborhood. All of my friends say so. I even have my own request threads on the most popular Pokémon forums. I’ve bred for everyone, in every game. No request has ever gone unfulfilled…but some are much more painful to complete than others.
It was about nine years back, when I got a hold on Pokémon Ruby for the first time. Back then, I wasn’t as accomplished as I am now, breeding having been introduced only one generation prior. Still, I had an almost full dex from all the eggs I had hatched. One day, a few months after I finished the main game and had become rather well-known for my breeding capabilities, I got a phone call from a friend of mine who had gone on vacation that week. She wanted to say hello and check up on things back home, and request a Pokémon for when she got back. She wanted a Cubone, because she said it was “a cute little ground dino with a bone as a weapon!” I told her I’d get right to it as soon as possible.
Later that day, I whipped out my GBA and got to work. Now, as my dex was pretty much full save for a few Legendaries, I had a pair of Marowak in the back of one of my boxes. I loaded up my file and headed to the nearest Pokémon Center in Sootopolis City. I withdrew the two ground-types and flew on my Pelipper, Nautilus, to Mauville, then walked to the Daycare. I happily put in my female, whose name was Marisa, and my male, who wasn’t nicknamed, bidding the Daycare Couple farewell.
I decided that I would run over to my friend Richard’s house for a quick battle. He loved Pokémon as much as I did and he was always up for a good match. I walked over to his little yellow house and knocked on the door. I saw a brunette woman look through the window and call her son to the door. Richard, sharing his mothers dark brown hair, saw my hand clutching my GBA and invited me inside.
“Hiya, John! Up for a battle?” Richard instantly asked, beaming as usual. I nodded and let out a small laugh; Richard was an expert trainer who loved battling his Pokémon. He got his GBA and cable from his room before scampering back down the hall. We sat down on the living room couch.
“Hey, I caught a buttload of new Pokémon! Some of their Pokédex entries are really cool!” Richard said, still smiling. “I love Snorlax’s, it’s kind of funny. Mudkip’s is pretty cool, but I like Cubone’s best.” Remembering my friend’s request, curiosity pushed me to ask the question.
“What’s so cool about Cunbone’s dex entry?” I asked.
“Here, I’ll show you!” Richard said, turning on his GBA and opening up his Pokédex to Cubone’s entry.
Cubone pines for the mother it will never see again. Seeing a likeness of its mother in the full moon, it cries. The stains on the skull the Pokémon wears are made by the tears it sheds.
Now, that entry was rather irksome. Remembering the Marowak I left in the Daycare, I was suddenly filled with alarm.
“I’m sorry, Richard, I, uh, just remembered that my dad wants me home right now. I’ll see you later, okay?” I stuttered, then raced out of his house and to my own, GBA still clutched in my hand.
Carefully, I opened up my save file, my character still outside the daycare. I hadn’t taken too many steps since I had put in my Marowak in the daycare, I was sure they’d be fine. But there was something in the back of my mind telling me otherwise. Cautiously, I entered the Daycare. The couple’s sprites looked different, sadder. I walked up to the man. His dialogue box popped up, but instead of his normal dialogue, he simply asked, “Why?” before giving me a Pokémon egg. Confused, I opened my party; my one empty space had been replaced with an egg, alright. I turned to the woman, who was silent as I asked for my two Marowak back. The male seemed fine, a perfectly normal Marowak. Marisa, however, looked…different.
Opening her summary, I got a better look at her sprite. Marisa looked sickly, paler. What really caught my now fearful eyes was the blood at her feet. It was pooling underneath her, certainly too much for a living creature to lose. I quickly closed her summary, hands sweating. I took two steps. I heard a Marowak’s cry, but it was slower, more garbled. In pain. Two more, and it happened again, even louder and more agonized. A final two steps and it was an outright wail of sorrow and misery, before silence. I opened Marisa’s summary again. It was blank, her sprite pale and cold.
As I closed the summary once more, I was filled with a terrible guilt. I took a step, and my screen changed to that of the egg hatching scene. The egg I received from the sad Daycare man was breaking, its little virtual shell shattering to reveal a little brown dinosaur. Its body look like a Cubone’s but its head had no skull helmet. Its head was simply smooth and clean looking, its eyes filled with innocence. It held no bone, and I knew why. I opened my party, and Marisa’s box was the red of a fainted Pokémon’s, but instead of the “FNT” symbol, there was just a little black “X”. I opened her summary for a third time. All it said was, “This is your fault.”
I closed the box in terror and opened my new Cubone’s. Its sprite had changed to a normal Cubone’s but tears filled its eyes and its skull was still bloody, as was its bone.
I saved the game, though I didn’t want to. I still needed to give my friend her baby Cubone. After my game was saved I turned off my GBA. I walked up the stairs to my room, and I cried. I mourned for Marisa and pitied her child. Guilt took over me. I would never, ever breed another.
I gave my friend her baby Pokémon. To this day I have told no one of the tragedy it took to get her that freaking Cubone.

The Night Shift
(this one is actually on fanfiction.net apparently)
The young nurse stood behind the counter, staring fixedly at the automatic doors and waiting impatiently for a trainer to come wandering in, seeking help. The Chansey next to her was dropping in and out of sleep and she knew she should tuck it into bed soon. Whenever she suggested that it should get some rest, it would look extremely offended and ignore her.
She heard the familiar sound of the last ferry for the night announcing its arrival at the Vermillion City port. She felt a bit guilty for perking up.
After a few minutes of waiting, the automatic doors zipped open and a teary-eyed young boy came wandering in. He was cradling a sickly looking Meowth in his arms and was sniffling uncontrollably. The Chansey immediately snapped out of its doze and hurried over around the counter to examine it.
“P-p-poisoned!” The boy wailed as the Meowth let out a gurgling cry.
“No need to cry. We can fix him up good as new,” the young woman said kindly as the boy continued to sob.
“You just return him to his ball and we’ll make him better in no time at all,” she instructed and in the boy, wiping his nose on his sleeve, quickly returned the spluttering Meowth to its ball.
The Chansey rubbed the boy’s back sympathetically as they waited for the Meowth to heal. None of them noticed as the automatic doors slid open and the shadowy figure that stumbled inside and collapsed into the nearest chair.
“See! All better!” The young woman said brightly, passing the ball back into the boy’s hands. For good measure, she dug a brightly coloured sweet out of a jar and handed it to the still extremely shaken boy.
“Look after yourself out there,” she said and the boy nodded weakly, wandering back outside, holding the poké ball tightly in his hand. The Chansey clucked its tongue in a concerned way and returned to its post behind the counter. The young woman yawned and rubbed her eyes a bit. She looked around and jumped slightly when she saw the huddled figure sitting one of the seats. The shadow was clutching its stomach and talking to its self.
Thinking at first it might be one of the pet’s from the Fan Club she frowned at it.
“Shoo! Get out!”
The shape put its head up and she saw immediately that it wasn’t a Pokémon at all but a young girl around fourteen. Her face was grimy and deathly pale and she was extremly thin to the point of looking skeletal. The Chansey gave a little squeak of fright.
“Oh I’m so sorry! I thought you were…never mind. What’s the matter?” She cried as she hurried over to the girl, helping her to her feet. The girl didn’t answer but whispered something low and intelligible under her breath. As soon as the young woman was near enough she saw immediately what the matter was. Under her dirty clothes the girl’s stomach bulged in the obvious sign of pregnancy.
“…think me water’s broke…” the girl muttered to herself. The young woman’s jaw dropped and the Chansey’s eyes bulged out of its head. Why on earth had the girl come all the way here? Nearly all pregnant women in Kanto had their births at home with a nurse from the local Pokémon Centre right by their side.
Travelling all the way to the Centre itself was very unusual.
Panicking slightly, she led the girl over past the counter and into the emergency ward at the back.
“Chansey, could you look after her as I call someone?” She fretted as she nearly sprinted back to the front desk. She was so busy, leafing through her little phone book she barely noticed the way the young girl recoiled away from the Chansey’s touch.
After ten seconds of searching she finally found it. Sweat broke on her brow as she dialed the number of the other nurse in town.
“Pickup, pickup, pickup…” She begged as the phone rang for what seemed like hours.
“…H-h-hello?” A sleepy voice yawned from the end of the line.
“It’s me, Joy! You’ve got to get in right away!” She nearly screeched down the phone. She heard the other nurse drop something in surprise and a barely muffled curse.
“What’s the matter? Is it a decapitation? Or has someone been drained by a Zubat?” She replied, her voice suddenly alert and full of authority.
“No, no, no! A girl’s come in and she’s going to have a baby!” She replied as there was a sudden loud shout from the next room. Shooting a terrified look behind her she heard a brief gasp of surprise from the phone and next minute the nurse had hung up.
In record time the other nurse had come bustling in. Feeling an immediate sense of calm, the young woman led the more experienced nurse into the ward out back. The girl was lying on her back and her knees pointing to the ceiling. She had a pained, frightened look on her face that didn’t disappear as she saw the two women hurrying to her side.
“Go get me some gloves and blankets please,” the other nurse said sharply but the Chansey had already beaten her to the job. The other nurse snapped on the gloves and put the blankets on the bedside table.
“You have to control your breathing, honey,” she said kindly but the girl seemed to not hear her.
The young woman looked on in half wonder, half disgust as she looked at the wailing girl. The long hours passed in screeches, panic and blood…the girl ignoring all commands given to her, lost in her own world of pain.
Dawn was coming as the finally the newborn came into the world. The girl’s head lolled back into the pillow and she was finally quiet. Not even bothering to wipe the sweat from her eyes, the young woman quickly checked to see if she was still okay. She was as pale as paper, was sweating profusely and her heartbeat was faint. Feeling panic run through her again she turned to the other nurse.
“She’s lost a lot of blood,” the other nurse said worriedly as she wrapped the gurgling baby into the blankets.
“But at least the baby seems o…ERRRUUGGHHHH!” She broke off into a cry of utter repulsion dropping the newborn back onto the bed as if it were contaminated. The young woman stared at her in shock.
“What on earth’s the matter with you?” She said as she hurried back to pick up the baby. She looked at it more closely as the other nurse made gagging noises.
“Oh, how REVOLTING!” She screeched dropping the baby onto the bed again, feeling her stomach churn. The Chansey stared at them both and when she went to examine the baby a sad, solemn look crossed its face.
“What is it, what is it?” The young woman whimpered, stumbling away. The other nurse, apparently recovering from her shock, took a few steps closer. The baby’s skin was a sickly, slimy yellow. Two moist tiny eyes one bigger than the other, set deeply into its head glistened up at them. It nose was long and drooped over its lower lip. It made pathetic squawking noises. Its skull was lumpy and misshapen and one of its arms was crumpled up uselessly against its side.
After a few minutes of staring at the monstrosity the other nurse stumbled over to deadly quiet girl.
“What’s your name, honey?” She said hoarsely as the girl stared, glassy-eyed at the ceiling. For what seemed like ages she made no sound and it seemed like she wouldn’t answer. Then her lips twitched and she said so quietly they all had to strain their ears to hear…
“L…Lostelle.”
The baby squirmed slightly at her feet. The other nurse looked at the girl for a few moments.
“Who did this to you?” She asked her voice dropping to a whisper. The girl slowly shook her head and gave out soft protesting noises. As the nurse patted her arm sympathetically she screwed her eyes shut and shook her head more fiercely.
The two nurses glanced at each other as the girl fell quiet once more, staring fixedly at the ceiling. They began to look for potions and medicines to help fight infections and to stem the blood flow. The Chansey, apparently the only one out of the three who was not completely revolted by the baby, carried it over to a nearby cot, normally used to store recovering Pokémon.
“Please, honey, you have to drink this to get better,” the other nurse begged as she tried to force the potion down the girl’s throat. She seemed to not notice.
“Don’t…want…to get…better,” she informed them as they both tried to pry her jaw open. The minutes ticked away and her heart beat grew fainter and fainter by the second. Her eyes rolled up towards the back of her skull and she began to mutter delusional things under her breath.
“…didn’t listen…didn’t listen…such…lovely music,” she whispered, her head rolling from side to side, sweat pouring off of her forehead.
Finally as her life drifted away she looked at them both clearly for the first time, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“Kill it for me, kill it for me please,” she begged as the baby cawed from its cot. The other nurse’s lower lip was trembling as she tried once again to force the potion into her mouth.
“Tell Daddy…I’m sorry I didn’t listen…”
The young woman buried her head into the other nurse’s shoulder as the girl’s last breath escaped her lips and her whole body shuddered then finally lay deadly still.
One of the only creepypastas I've read that has truly horrified me.

"Isn't that what you'd call a bond?"
Been combing the old thread so I can re-post the pastas that have sources.
This one was written by @Nesu-Kun;With HeartGold and SoulSilver's release earlier this year, I tried looking for a copy of one of the original games, Crystal, to buy online. I hadn't played this game in at least 7 years. It strangely went missing when I moved house as a kid. I saw the cart eBay. There wasn't much information, or even a picture, but it had no postage and packaging price and only cost a dollar, so I was hardly losing anything if it didn't really exist.
When the game arrived, it wasn't in its original box, but instead, the cartridge alone was just wrapped up. It looked like a Crystal cartridge as it was shiny, slightly see-through and blue, but it lacked the sticker in which the game title is print on. However, I still put it in my pink Game Boy Advance SP. Pink as I am a girl, of course.
I switched the handheld on. There was a loud beeping sound, then the game began as normally. Once the menu screen was open, the only option was New Game, as it had never been played. The cartridge sure ddn't seem in that condition though.
So, I clicked new game. Instead of starting out with the Professor's speech, it skipped straight to somewhere that didn't exist in these games. Or at least, it looked like the place.
It was the Pokemon Mansion from the original games. The Pokemon Mansion on Cinnabar Island. The same Cinnabar Island that no longer existed.
I was the girl character, as I wanted to be, but I had no choice in this. On close inspection, her hair seemed a different color from what I originally remembered. It was a dark purple, and she also didn't have her hat any longer.
I walked around the building. It wouldn't let me up the stairs. The only other thing was a bed. I walked towards it and a scientist came along. He told me to rest, so I laid on the bed. The screen suddenly went pitch black. It stayed this way for a while. Before this transition, there was pure silence, but after, there was loud high pitched noises, which almost sounded like screams. It was hard to tell though, as the sound was in 8bit.
When my character woke up, the plase was covered in patches of red; blood. The character herself was drenched in it too. I tried to walk around, but I couldn't. The scientist seemed to have disappeared, also.
I pressed all of the buttons to try and get something to work, and on pressing select, my character walked out of bed. Only, she was still in the bed at the same time. And unlike before, instead of walking, she appeared to float.
I pressed start, and my character turned into a ghost pokemon's menusprite. This shocked me slightly. I walked out of the door, when I suddenly teleported into Lavender Town. There, in the middle of town, was a gravestone. I clicked the "A" button to check it. It said "R.I.P. CRYSTAL". I opened up my menu, and looked at my trainer card. The sprite of the trainer had turned into that of a Misdreavus', and as I though, the player's name was "CRYSTAL".
The scientist came up to the tombstone, and it suddenly disappeared. He seemed to run at twice the speed of a normal game character.
My character, without my control, floated after him. As soon as she entered a patch of grass, a random encounter appeared. Only, this encounter was hardly "random". The Pokemon was Mewtwo. Instead of attacking, a few lines were written.
"You let them get you, didn't you, CRYSTAL?"
There was a yes and no option, I just clicked no, as I was unsure of what was going on.
"Don't lie to me! I can see what they did! Look at yourself." After this, the game paused for a few seconds, then the "battle" continued. "You're just an object of science, like me. I'm not real, and neither are you. You were just made out of a tiny bit of DNA from something else, and when you weren't perfect, they killed you. Would you like to seek revenge?"
I clicked no again, and I was sent back to the field, with Mewtwo still following my character.
I walked until the scientist appeared again, and suddenly, my bag screen came up with the only item there being "Knife". I clicked it, and pressed use. Suddenly, the screaming noise appeared again, and the screen went black.
Suddenly, the screaming got louder and more frequent. When it stopped, I was in the radio tower. A text box appeared.
"Why did they destroy our home? We were meant to be here... Everyone who destroyed are home is gone. Everyone in the world is gone. We killed them all. We got revenge like you. Now all the world is gone."
Suddenly, the screen went white, with my character still there. "Everything is gone. You also killed us. You're the only one left. Why did we kill people? Why did you help? Now, you must get what you deserve!"
The character was replaced with a patch of blood, and then the game froze. I have never picked up this cartridge again. It gave me nightmares.
You’d think something like this would invoke mass hysteria, what, the end of the world an’ all. Yet it seemed as though nothing was wrong, people going about their daily buisiness, wild Pokémon happily munching on whatever they munched upon, trainers training away, all as they were removed from existence. You see, existence seemed to be collapsing, a great white blank enveloping and wiping everything from existence. It was terrifying, yet I felt as if this had happened before…
As the great blank came toward me, my thoughts drifted toward my mother, alone at home when she was removed from existence, alongside the rest of the town where we lived. My father was always away, visiting rarely and going about his own business. He rarely let anyone get close to him, which made me wonder how I had been conceived. Not that it mattered by this point, he was already gone, as this region seemed to be the last thing to be enveloped.
My thoughts drifted to my rival, how they were probably exploring other parts of this region to train and become stronger before they were removed from existence. We had bumped into each other occasionally as we travelled, each of our battles teaching us something new and letting us grow stronger. Funny how quickly all that progress one did could be gone faster then a blink.
The blank finally reached me, and soon I too was being enveloped. My final thoughts were of my own journey, how I was given a Pokémon by the professor and set out to prove myself a Pokémon Master. I caught my fair share of Pokémon, training 6 to become my main party, and yet it all seemed to be in vain. The blank would finally finish me off and that would be it, no more battles, no more journeys, I would never see my family again, but then how would I know, I would’ve never existed. If I never existed, then I never had a family. Makes your brain hurt as you think more and more into it. To think, my last thoughts would be about my demise rather then of my friends and family. Perhaps, in some other plane of existence, we could meet again, perhaps battle with our Pokémon friends. Maybe we could share tales of our journeys, of the dangers and thrills we faces…maybe th

Just last year, I got a Pokémon Platinum game for my birthday. I got it from my friend, one of my best friends. When I turned the game on, I did not see anything special. Except that the save file's player name was called "SHIT" (I'll call her Sit), a female character. I found it normal as it could have been my friend just doing that for fun. I selected continue.
As I expected, the normal player's room came out. My rival "TIHS" (I'll call him Tis from now on, though the name's origins are obvious) came in and said all those things he would normally say.
I was playing through the game, receiving my starter Pokémon (Piplup), battling my rival etc. when I encountered a wild shiny Bidoof. It was named TIHS, even in the wild where it cannot be named. I caught it, and decided to train it and use it as my HM slave.
I noticed I have also obtained a Turtwig and Starly in my team. I was quite happy, because they both seemed like nice additions.
Though I did know that Sit did not have a phone, a phone call came from Tis' mother and was asking where he had gone. She asked: Do you have him? A YES/NO popped out, so I responded YES. This suddenly initiated a wild battle between my Piplup and a wild Bibarel called TIHM. It vastly outleveled Piplup, so Piplup fainted soon.
I sent out Starly, which also fainted due to TIHM's Water Gun attack. Turtwig failed to Double-edge. My last Pokémon was Tis the Bidoof, which TIHM refused to attack. I found TIHM meant TIHS's Mother.
I threw my Poké ball at TIHM. It was caught, but Tis the Bidoof was gone. Turtwig was renamed: MASTER and Starly was renamed: ISDEAD. I was shocked as I have just killed my childhood friend (technically).
I found it rather special as in the Oreburgh Gate, I caught a Geodude called "Roark", and the first Gym leader was gone. In succession, I caught "Gardenia" the Budew, "Maylene" the Meditite, "Volkner" the Shinx, "Wake" the Magikarp, "Candice" the Snorunt (magically found in Mt. Coronet), "Fantina" the Misdreavus, "Byron" the Magnemite, "Lucian" the Bronzor, "Flint" the Ponyta, "Aaron" the Skorupi, "Bertha" the Gligar, "Cynthia" the Gible, "Cheryl" the Happiny, "Buck" the Baltoy, "Riley" the Riolu, "Mira" the Abra, and "Marley" the Growlithe.
All those characters were gone.
Finally, I faced Sit the Piplup. I escaped.
The next wild battle was against Sit the Piplup. I escaped.
The next trainer battle against a youngster was against Sit the Piplup. I had no choice but to attack.
"TIHM used Double-Edge!"
"The foe SHIT fainted!"
"SHIT died!"
The friend who sent me the gift died in a car accident the subsequent day.

The Lavender Town Apocalypse
One day I decided that I wanted to play through Kanto again. Unfortunately, I didn't own Red, Blue, Yellow, Fire Red, or Leaf Green. But I did own a Game Boy Advance SP. Since there isn't a Gamestop or anything near where I live, my only choice was to look at the local pawn shop. Luckily, they had Leaf Green.
I bought it and as soon as I got home, I put it in my Game Boy and started playing. It didn't have a save file, so I had to start a new game. Everything was normal until I battled my rival. I defeated him, all he said was "...". Then it went back to the overworld. Yet again he said "...". and the screen flashed black for a moment and he disappeared, kind of like after you defeat Red in Gold, Silver, and Crystal.
I finally got to Pewter City, where I could battle Brock, the 1st gym leader. After I defeated him, the same thing happened with him. Then a question mark popped up above my character. Then a text box popped up saying, "Found the Boulder Badge and TM laying on the ground. Red (which is who I named my character) obtained the Boulder Badge and TM!" So I continued onto the next route.
The thing I mentioned earlier about Brock disappearing was happening to trainers I battled, too. Except I just picked up their money. As I walked down the route, some old man ran up to me and said, "Where ever you go, never go to Lavender Town. I heard that ghosts are possessing some of the residents and visitors there!" Then he ran off.
Now I've made it to Mt. Moon. I ventured through until I found Rocket grunts. At least, I thought that's what they were. When I battled them, their skin looked really pale, and instead of an "R" on their uniform, it was a "Z". I was thinking, "What does that stand for?" It actually freaked me out a bit. Finally I got to the super nerd. I beat him, but there were no fossils up ahead. So I just continued, finally reaching the exit.
I'm now at Cerulean City, were I can battle Misty. I battled her, but after I defeated her, she said, "I've had enough of defeat!" Then, in anger, she jumped into the water, and I never saw her again. I guess she drowned herself, or something. Luckily, the badge and TM were sitting on the platform that she was standing on, so I grabbed them and ran out of the gym.
I decided to go to Bill's house after this. There were no trainers on the Nugget Bridge or the route after it, which I thought was kind of strange. I still went into Bill's house. I saw him laying on the ground, kind of like the old man in Viridian City. I walked up to him and pressed A. A text box popped up and said, "You can't here him breathe. Check for heartbeat?" I said "Yes" "There is no heartbeat. He must be dead." So I walked right out and continued to Vermilion City.
When I got to Vermilion City, the S.S. Anne wasn't in the harbor. There wasn't any sailors there, either. I've also noticed that I didn't need Cut to get to the gym. I walked in, and to my surprise there was no trainers or electric gate. It was just Lt. Surge standing in the middle of the gym. I battled him then defeated him. But after the battle, he sent out an Electrode and sat on it. He said, "I can't take this anymore! Life is horrible! Electrode, use Self-Destruct!" And it did, killing Lt. Surge. The badge was on the ground, but I didn't have to take it.
I eventually got to Rock Tunnel and I couldn't wait to get out. After I managed to get out, I went straight to Lavender Town. I really didn't have any other choice. As I walked around the town, I noticed the gym leaders and trainers I battled were there. But their skin was pale; almost gray-colored. As I continued walking, I noticed that they were following me. Then I used my running shoes. There were still following me. About this time I noticed that they were zombies. I ran around town looking for an unlocked building to go in, but all the doors were locked except for 2: Mr. Fuji's house and Pokemon tower. The zombies were still following me.
I quickly ran into Mr Fuji's house. I knew I would be safe there. The house was completely empty, except there was a desk with a computer on it. Out of curiosity, I walk up to it and pressed A. This is what it said: "There's a text document. Read it?" I said "Yes" This is what the document said: "Something has gone completely wrong here in Kanto. If anyone is reading this, run from Lavender Town right now." At this point I was pretty freaked out. So I get out of the house and run towards the nearest exit. But that exit was blocked off by a fence. So I run to the other two exits, but they had fences, too.
I had no choice but to go into Pokemon Tower. I noticed that the zombies were gone. So I run into the tower. But soon I found out that the zombies were there. So they started chasing me. I ran upstairs to find some possessed channelers. They didn't want to battle, but they blocked the next staircase. By this time I had a Charizard. The zombies finally caught up. One walked up to me. Then a battle started. The zombie didn't send out any Pokemon, so the zombies battled. I sent out Charizard. I tried to use Flame Thrower, but it had the same response as a Ghost in normal games. The zombie bit my Charizard. My Charizard fainted. The only other Pokemon I had were only weak HM slaves, so I knew at this point I was screwed. After the zombie knocked out all of my Pokemon, I finally whited out.
Instead of ending up in a Pokemon Center, I found myself on the top floor of Pokemon Tower with zombies surrounding me. I looked at my party and it had no Pokemon. Then I looked at my trainer card. Then I realized that they infected me, so now I am a zombie. I walked out of the tower and there were no more gates. I traveled all the way to Celedon City, but it was completely deserted. Then I went to Saffron City, and it was completely empty as well. I walked up to the sign outside of Silph Co. and it said "Out of business" Then I realized that this was about 20 years later an Kanto has been completely deserted. I walked to the resident's houses and there were signs on the doors that said, "Moved to Isshu by force" Now I realized that the only living things in Kanto were zombies.
After this, I pulled out the cartridge and threw it in the trash because I was so freaked out. I will never buy any video games at pawn shops or play any Kanto-based games again.

I don’t remember exactly when I first noticed that the Unknown were spelling out words. But I do remember what made me pay attention to them.
True to the ‘catch em all’ mentality, I was trying to capture the full alphabet. Spending a lot of time with the Unknown, accidental words appearing was quite normal. It was when, six in a row they spelled out S. I. L. V. E. R, that I started to pay attention. As soon As I’d captured the R and the view went back to the overworld, my rival appeared. Right there in the unknown ruins. I hadn’t named my rival Silver, and he’d never been there before.. but there he was.
A battle began, and to my surprise his name came up as SILVER, rather than the name I’d given him. He was easy enough to defeat, and upon losing the battle said “….” then dissapeared.
That was the beggining. I searched the internet for glitches, or special events, or hidden extras in-game that might be what I’d experienced. There was none. This is partially why I’m writing this, if it happens to you, you will not be as naive as I was.
From then on, the unknown appeared at random, which was frustrating. Untill I remembered that the time before, i’d had the radio on. So, with the secret-signal playing and my hunt for the alphabet continuing, the Unknown started telling me things.
R. A. I. K. O. U
As soon as the U was defeated I went looking for Raikou in the ruins, but he wasn’t there. Eventually I left the ruins a little disheartened.. when i spotted his sprite sitting just outside the ruins. I initiated the battle with Raikou at the ruins, he was easy to catch. Easier than he should have been, I thought.
In my mind, this was fun. I’d discovered a special event that nobody new about!
But the Unknown were just getting my attention by bringing me Raikou. They had important things to say.

Trapped? It was mis-spelled, but maybe that was to fit into the 6-letter form they kept up. Trapped where? The screen shook, and there was a loud noise. A dialouge box popped up, it said: “An earthquake blocked off the entrance!”
What? Was there really a whole part of the story in this game that NOBODY new about? Why wasn’t this section in the guide book?
Sure enough, the ladder was useless. The next Unknown I met was shiny;
F
Despite already having that letter, who could resist a shiny pokemon? The next five were shiny too.. R. E. E. Z. E.
I made the mistake of catching them all, greed for shiny pokemon momentarilly taking over the message. Freeze? After that the music faltered and sounded strange, so I went to the pokegear to check the radio. The Unknown’s signal wasn’t playing anymore. I checked the other stations, and to my horror they were all playing static. This was too much, I stopped playing and went back to the internet to search for a walkthrough that had this part of the game covered, but found nothing. My computer’s speakers weren’t working for some reason, but I decided to fix that later. There was nobody on messenger to tell about my weird game. No new emails.. nothing was updated, so I went back to playing pokemon.
The radio was working, just for one broadcast.
“OAK: There were warnings of this, messages left from ancient times. We did not pay them attention. They warned us. We did not listen…..”
And it played that strange static noise again.
The Unknown, he had to mean the Unknown. What would their next message be? Would they tell me how to get out?

Escape? I was trying to! How un-helpful. No, wait. Escape rope? It was so obvious I felt like an idiot for not thinking of it before, and used an escape rope. Sure enough, it brought me out to the overworld outside the Ruins. The scene was dramatically different though, the place was overgrown. The long grass was EVERYWHERE, the buildings themselves looked obviously destroyed.
I went to the researchers house, by the ruins, it was still standing and I hadn’t a clue what else to do. Inside was silent. The researchers sprites were where they always were, but it was impossible to interact with them. One of them, sitting at the table had the option “push?” appear when I tried to talk to him. then “yes” or “no”.. I chose yes. The sprite moved one square up, off the seat, but otherwise stayed exactly as it was.
I left the house, saved, and switched off the game for a break. It was starting to get to me. The next day, things took a turn for the worse. Nobody would speak to me, nobody would respond to me.. in fact.. they weren’t even moving. On the street, in the local cafe, people were posed as normal, as if time had stopped, they weren’t moving, or even breathing. There was a woman standing at the bus stop, I decided to “push” her, just to see what would happen. She fell, like a mannequin, and stiffly hit the ground with a THWAK… and blood poured out her head where it had hit the road.
Out of blind panic, I ran home and went back to playing Pokemon, I’d just left the researchers house.
Professor Oak was standing outside, an exclamation mark appeared above his head and he walked over to me. “A survivor! What is your name?”.
Two options came up, I could choose my player name, or “new name”. I chose my player name, and Oak reacted by jumping back. “You.. they speak to you”. And his sprite ran away.
Having no idea what I was ment to do next, I just wandered around johto aimlessly. Most of the buildings were obviously ruined. None of the people would respond to me, although one or two had the “push” option, if they were infront of something.
There were no wild pokemon. There were no animals to be heard in the outside world either.
In frustration, I went back to the Unknown Ruins to try and get back in, for another clue. After trying to walk into each entrance, the one that would normally go to the Ho-oh puzzle room let me in. I immediately put on the radio, hoping the Unknown would tell me something.
Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Believeing that the Unknown were somehow speaking directly to me? But they were.

Choose. Okay! Choose what? What was my choice? Two holes opened in the floor of the puzzle room, and I heard the front and back doors of my house swing open.
Walking around the house, game in hand, I looked out both doors, everything looked normal outside both. In game, the two holes in the floor looked the same.
L. I. F. E. O. R
lifeor? Thats not a word.
D. E. A. T. H. ?.
A question mark! Forgetting myself for a moment, I was excited to see the rare unknown and caught it…. Life..or..death?
No, this wasn’t making sense, the next clue would help surely.
C. H. O. O. S. E
C. H. O. O. S. E
That’s all that they’d say. So I had to choose. Both holes in the floor looked the same, so I just took my chances and jumped down one. The whole screen went black, then faded to red, then white. A dialouge box appeared saying:
“You chose LIFE”.
My heart was hammering, I fainted.
When I woke up, my roommate was standing over me, asking if I was alright. There was music on, and cars outside. I survived! I was a lucky one. Possibly the first lucky one. My roomie told me that something had happened outside, a woman had been hit by a bus or something.
It was a few days before I dared play pokemon again, but curiosity got the better of me and I had to know what happened in the game. But the only option that came up after the title screen was “New Game”.
I chose not to start again, and left it alone. Since then, I’ve donated that catridge along with several other old games and toys to local a local thrift store.
Whoever else plays that game, better make sure to choose Life, I suspect the reason that there was no information on this before is because nobody before me was lucky enough to choose correctly.
