Thread: Pokédex Spreadsheets

Being the forgetful sort, I've found that while playing Diamond, I can't remember which Pokémon I've caught - and you can't really check the Pokédex when you're encountering a wild Pokémon...

So I decided to put together a rudimentary Excel spreadsheet, which I use on my PDA (since that's easier to lug around than my laptop). It counts up how many Pokémon you've caught, so long as you mark each entry with a lower-case Y (told you it was rudimentary).

I started off, of course, with the Sinnoh Pokédex, but ended up having to make another one when I got the National Dex in the game. So I've included both here should anyone wish to use them.

And yes, it is a pain in the neck to make entries in the spreadsheet if you've caught quite a few before obtaining this spreadsheet, but once you're past that hurdle, it can be worth the initial tedium! (Well, I thought so, anyway :P)

But if you've already caught the pokemon species you're facing, it'll show up on the screen. The part that shows the HP and species of the opponent will have a pokeball symbol if you have the dex entry already.

Now, this could be useful if you do a lot of tradebacks for dex entry and you forget what you have and what you've just given back right away.

Gah! I'd noticed that symbol in passing and wondered what it was for! LOL

Still, at least the sheet's been useful when talking to Mr. Backlot. Ah well. If people want it, it's there. If not, then they don't :D

That symbol is not completely reliable. I have a lv100 Salamence and I battled that trainnier near route 229 who has one and a dusclops on Diamond, and that symbol hasnt shown up. So just letting ya know

I know, its strange, its also done the same thing for a few other Pokemon but i thought it was because i dont have one of that lv or something but it wasnt the case cuz i raised one of them alot higher

If you haven't noticed, that Pokeball symbol only appears if it is a wild Pokemon. It makes perfect sense really, you can't catch a trainer Pokemon so why bother spending the time telling us whether you have it or not?

Really, if you think you haven't caught a Pokemon that you see an NPC own, you can easily check the Pokedex afterward.
