I think like any other organism, it depends on how much of it they drink. For example, water types need a lot because their cells require it to continually replenish it from their bodies as they often use water attack. Fire types like Charmander might only need a little bit. Certain steel types might need none at all, since they could be almost robotic.

In the case of Charizard, it may drink water as long as it doesn't put any on it's tail. But for Magmar, Magby, and Magmortar? They probably don't need to drink any water, since the live in magma/lava.

But that's just my thought on this.

For the record, in the games, all Pokémon regardless of species/type are able to drink Fresh Water, Soda Pop and Lemonade. Even if they logically shouldn't be able to. How does Magnemite drink anything without a mouth?

I guess you're just not supposed to think about it too hard.

YouTube projects advertised are in early development and subject to change.

I am guessing fire-types have a gland so they can use fire-type attacks that is seperate from their stomachs.
    Dibs on Banette or Wobbuffet.
I claimed Wobbufet! Man, that doesn't sound very exciting.

I don't calculate stat values, and I don't care about natures. I catch my Pokemon the way they are. I just play the game normally. If you agree copy & paste this in your sig.

What about Slugma?? Wouldn't water just evaporate in its mouth before it could swallow

It would probably also harden the lava, depending on how much water there is.

I'm of the same opinion as some other people here. Pokemon that aren't literally made of fire such as Houndour or Typhlosion probably can, while Pokemon like Magmar or Slugma probably should not.

The more animal-like ones would be okay. I'm not sure about the ones that are pure fire.

Well, it seems okay because I think I've seen Tepig drink water out of a bowl or something similar....
