Default Move-of-the-Week Discussion #91: Heal Bell

In Pokémon, there are lots of different moves used by different Pokémon. Every week, we shall focus the discussion on a different move, and there will be some base questions that would help you start this off. This week, Heal Bell is chosen by @Voltaire Magneton;.

Status was a real deal back when the games started, since Rest was the only way out of it. Luckily, Generation 2 gave us a new way too remove status. This is special because it also heal team mates from their dreadful conditions, so it's really useful to have. The way this move works is interesting. The user uses a bell to make a recuperating sound that somehow makes others better. It's an odd way to make this move work, but it works, and that's all that matters in the end.

Here's the in-game description for this move:

The user makes a soothing bell chime to heal the status conditions of all the party Pokémon.
Here are the usual possible questions about this move:
    • How does certain Pokémon (who knows it) use this move? What kind of purpose would this move have for them (in the Pokémon World)?
    • How could this move be used to aid a profession in the Pokémon World?
    • Could this move realistically be used by any Pokémon who doesn't learn it normally? If yes, please explain your choices.
    • How would this move be used in battling, realistically or video game-wise?

Other questions (You could ask other critical questions beyond the listed):
    • Why does hearing the soothing bell sound heals not only the user, but the teammates as well?
    • Would this move heal the opponent's team since it's a sound move?
    • How do users without an explicit bell use this move?

Here are the current users for this move:

Thanks for reading, and happy discussing!

Would this move heal the opponent's team since it's a sound move?

I once watched a Christmas movie in which the bells on the reindeers will ring and will only be heard by the people (children in that part) who believe in the spirit of Christmas. Heal Bell is probably in the same theory as that. The bell sound is probably modified to be heard by friends/allies. Kind of answers the question [Why does hearing the soothing bell sound heals not only the user, but the teammates as well?] along with the fact that the bell is quite loud and soothing.

I think the Heal Bell does not literally have to be coming from a bell but
from a pitched sound the Pokemon makes. The sound heals the user's status condition
and has the will to choose which Pokemons can hear the sound.
