    Default Magikarp

Is there anyone else out there who actually likes Magikarp, and not just because it evolves into the mammoth Gyarados? I think it's a rather athetically pleasing Pokémon, not to mention it's the eternal underdog, and everyone loves the underdog.

I think the developers could have given this little fella a little bit more credit too. A few more moves perhaps?

i once read that magikarp were as strong as gyarados but they weakened. and in the pokemon games magikarp were usually in one spot with no other pokemon which means your chances of capturing a shiny one have will be higher which means you could evolve them in gyardos

You know, I've never been a fan of Shiny Gyarados. I prefer regular ones. Same with Magikarp.

I guess I just like blue and orange. lol

Surely the whole point of Magikarp is that it is pretty much useless until it evolves. The fact that it is one of the very few Pokémon to learn the only completely useless move in the game is evidence of this. At least it gets an attacking move before it gets to level 20, even if it is just Tackle.

I guess I just don't value power as much in a Pokémon lol.

It's one of my favourite Pokémon outside of Grass-Types. I just wish it wasn't as disposable as some people treat it.

Although that could be because every Magikarp I've every caught has had an affectionate nature lol

I think Magikarp is really cool. I don't really value how powerful a Pokémon is; so I just concentrate on how cool they look.

Yeah I like Magikarp, it's been around since the beginning and Pokemon just wouldn't be the same without it. It does have a kind of novelty value too, the same goes for Metapod. It's almost a shame when they evolve!

That's an in-universe legend, not something that was intended to be programmed.

Of course, if you're really attached to your Magikarp you can ignore the evolution and obtain Flail at level 30, giving your fishy friend a total of three moves!
There's yet a further option (the possibilities are endless!) in that you can tutor your Magikarp the move Bounce (or get it from the dreamworld) giving it a full moveset of four moves! Now you're truly ready to take on all comers, with 85 power and a 30% chance of paralysis!

EDIT: Just remembered the event moves back in Gen II; for further variety, Bubble or Reversal can be added to your arsenal!

I once gave a Magikarp Wonder Guard for the lulz and took him to the Battle Tower. A single Shock Wave from Minun knocked him out. :/ Bad luck, but it was still pretty funny to see Minun's partner, Buneary, try to Jump Kick him first.

But yes, I think Magikarp are adorable. They're just so pathetic and stupid-looking. How can you NOT love one?
Signature is a WIP for the moment.

I'm loving how the same guy who tries to sell you the Magikarp in Kanto, is now back in Unova. But now it's the only way to get the orange wonder!

I like Magikarp. I always evolve it, just because I want to fill up the pokedex, though. But like everyone else said, its the underdog, been around from the very beginning, and kinda stupid expression. What's not to love?
I also agree that regular Gyarados is better looking than the shiny one.
I don't calculate stat values. I don't care about natures. I catch my Pokemon the way they are. I just play the game normally.

I like Magikarp so much that I based my username off it.

Ever since about Gold/Silver, I've always had a Magikarp/Gyarados in my team.

I just restarted my SoulSilver though, so I don't have one yet. I have most of the rest of my team though.
