Thread: Lost Respect For Pokemon

Not exactly sure when it happened. I think I might have started to lose respect starting with the whole "expand the land/sea" evil plot and it was solidified by the castle hidden underneath the freakin' Pokemon league!

Still love Pokemon but a lot of the new stuff just makes me cringe and sigh in disappointment.

You do realize that Game Freak DOES NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE META-GAME!!! IT'S A FAN MADE SYSTEM!!! they don't take in consideration that Fire/Fighting isn't weak to SR (Neither are Fire/Steel and Fire/Ground) when making a pokemon... and Volcarona is in OU despite being Stealth Rock weak 4x's... hell a good number of OU Pokemon are SR weak... so SR plays no factor... it's been done 3 times aleady and Emboar is a pretty shitty Pokemon..... his stats are all wrong his HP and Attack are useless because of his pathetic 65/65/65 Defenses and Speed...

I don't think anything coul make me lose respect for it unless they change it to much.. or listen to the people who want to make it darker... that's what side-games are for...

If you're talking about the "meta-game", I agree.
But if you're talking about the actual game, I completely disagree. If people are complaning about something then usually it's a sign that there's a problem with it. If you completely ignore what the customer wants then you're left with a game that the customer doesn't want, which is bad for business and it usually ends up being an inferior product. Of course, they shouldn't go ahead and make every change that every customer suggests, but they shouldn't just ignore everyone.

if they take the anime and make it the same style and acting as that BW2 trailer ( id lose the respect for the anime, not the whole series)

The only reason why Volcarona's OU uis because of Quiver Dance. Without it, it wouldn't be in OU. Arcanine, for example, has almost as much as bulk as Volcarona, but it's being held back from being OU because of its SR weakness.

The problem is that these customers have way too much expectations on upcoming titles. People want a complex plot like Metal Gear and Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon designs that are just as basic as Gen 1's, a rival who is as much as a jerk as Blue/Green, a darker and edgier atmosphere, and Third version/Remake/Sequel exclusive features on the the Vanilla version. That's why BW2 became just as controversial as the first BW games.

It was needed to get passed the first few gyms and to resist Stealth Rock in competitive battles, which is why Charizard and Typhlosion are in the low tiers.

1) There are always other pokemon to use.
2) They can make it so the starters are balanced in terms of gyms by altering the gym typings.
3) Resisting SR isn't a requirement and there are other types that resist rock.

There are quite a few ways that GF could destroy the series. One particular way they could do it would be to keep it the way it is. It's not that it is super bad right now but the pokemon are getting lazier and the games are starting to feel very generic. I am not suggesting completely revamping the games, but maybe at least experiment with the spinoffs. There is so much potential for the pokemon world. They just have to tweak it a little and it could be completely perfect.

If high school and dating gets introduced and marriage. That completely destroys Pokémon.

Why is this such a problem? I mean, it's not like they don't exist already in the games. It's just not a focal point. I personally wish it showed up more, & it's lack of presence in the Pokemon series is a reason I myself lost interest in Pokemon. No one can go through life w/ out thinking about things like romance & dating at least once in their lives, why can't it be more present here? It doesn't have to run the show/games, but it can be shown much more than it is now.

As for what would make me lose respect for the series, I have no clue. I may not be as interested in Pokemon as I once was, but I've never lost respect for it. The only thing I can think of is if they blatantly made fun of/gave no concern to some serious issue, like what so many fans were doing when the Plasma/Rocket anime eps weren't aired due to last year's earthquakes. If the people who made the show & games acted even half as bad as many of the fans did back then then I'd lose respect for the series & it's creators.

If they made a Grand Thef Auto-like Pokemon game.

Hmm, I would really hate it if a level cap were implemented for the gyms to stop players sweeping them with overleveled Pokemon...

If they made an ice cream pokemon a God pokemon...... Oh wait ( ._.)

Make Normal a second type, like If there was a Pokémon that was Flying-Normal.
If that happened, then I'll ignore that pokémon regardless of how good or bad it is.

Ummm...you and me might get into a fight on this one...I've lost some respect for Pokemon on how hard it is to understand the battle system for the new Pokemon games.
