Re: Identify Pokémon Cries
Actually, there is a very small difference between the cries of Caterpie and Goldeen. Caterpie's is 0.07 seconds shorter.
Re: Identify Pokémon Cries

Also these Pokémon share the same cries
1.Charizard and Rhyhorn
2.Caterpie and Goldeen
3.Poliwag and Ditto

That's because Gen I cries are no more than 30 or something, with different speeds for each Pokémon. And some of them reversed, I think.
I wish GF had updated older Pokémon's cries. As for DS games, the difference between metallic 8-bit-based Gen I cries and newer, more realistic ones (Stoutland's cry DOES sound as a bark) is too evident.
Re: Identify Pokémon Cries
Yeah that's what I'm hoping for in Generation 6, hopefully they will change them because some of the Generation 1 and 2 cries make my ears want to bleed.
Re: Identify Pokémon Cries
It all just sounds like Electronic Buzzing and Bleeps to me.
Re: Identify Pokémon Cries
There's a few that I can identify purely based upon it's cry but then, there are times when I hear others and I know but I just can't get it.
Re: Identify Pokémon Cries
I can identify lots of Pokemon, only by their cries. Most of them I can identify are gen 4 and beyond. But there are some cries from previous gens I can easily identify.
The Pokedex 3D Pro has a test for identifiying Pokemon cries, my record is 327/649.
I'm taking it again.
Re: Identify Pokémon Cries
Electabuzz is the easiest for me. It's the one that rapes my ears more than any other one.
Then comes Totodile, Croconaw and Feraligatr. It's the same thing, but gets slower as the Pokémon evolves.

Yes I freaking love Absol's cry. Another one of my faves is Meloetta's I can listen to it all day.

There is literally no possible way I would ace that ^^; I could barely do the 10/10 one. And I think that's the only one I aced that wasn't a trophy.
Re: Identify Pokémon Cries
Some of the pokemon that I used for the better part of 10 years I am quite confident I could identify.
Chimecho, Armaldo, Milotic, Glalie, Camerupt, Swampert, Ludicolo, Linoone, Kyogre, Dodrio, and Pelipper I can all hear perfectly in my head right now. I don't know if that is sad or not...
Also, Regice, Regirock, Wailord, Donphan, Spheal, Wobbuffet, Pikachu, Raichu, Tropius, Absol, Banette, Cradily, Claydol, Skarmory, Seviper, Swablu, Spinda, Torkoal, Sharpedo, Bellossom, Magnemite, Medicham, Machoke, Skitty, Delcatty, Azumarill, Magikarp, Goldeen, Shedinja, Lotad, and Mudkip all play in my head when I scroll through the Hoenn Dex.
That's... almost a fourth... from a game that I played for 10 years... wow. I don't know how anyone could get all the pokedex cries!
Re: Identify Pokémon Cries
My boyfriend and I were about to battle and he was getting his Team together with the volume up, and he was going through them, then once he had I named all of them xD haha, he was so shocked, he thought I could see his screen somehow xD He though I was some kind of genius, I then told him most of the Pokémon fans I know can identify cries too xD haha, we then had a game of 'identify that cry' lol.
Re: Identify Pokémon Cries
I do very well on the Pokedex 3D Pro quiz (it's multiple choice). The only ones I'm a little shaky with are some of the Gen III cries, but even then I can tell it's from a GBA. Most of the others I can recognize through process of elimination with the game system.
