I think the wonderful thing about Pokemon is that it's always gaining NEW fans. It's multi-generational.
Born in '89. Played Blue when it came out but not hugely, it was only when I got Gold on my lime green GBC that everything really kicked off. Sort of lost interest after Crystal, but when I played Ruby for the first time everything clicked back into place.
And the rest, as they say, is history. But also present. And future.
First anime episode was Pokémon Scent-sation!
I was all like. yaaay it's a yellow rabbit =D
Been a Pokemon fan ever since.
1992. Got into Pokemon in '98, and my love for them never died.
This thread to this day remindes me that I'm way outside the usual curve on this stuff. If I was in college today I'd be surrounded by Pokemon players.
Not surprised to see most of the users are from the early 90s but it's awesome to see what a diverse age range there is.
I was born in 1991 so I'm currently in college, having left high school last year.
Even though I was playing Red first time round, I definetly appreiciate and enjoy it more now at the age of 18!
Yeah, so what if i'm young. Firered and leafgreen came out when i was around 4, and my Game Boy came with firered. I've been hooked ever since.
soulsilver (well, my brother has it, does that count?
By the way, i'm 10 and i understand how to battle and explore perfectly, any1 who says younger kids are dumb should be in he crazy shack :)
I've played pretty much every game and I'm hooked like a Magikarp.
Oooh, that comparison was pretty bad.
1992, Just turned 18 a week or so ago actually.
How strange, although the polls show that the majority of the fandom lies in the 15-20 range the franchise is supposed to be aimed at younger gamers. Of course, this poll only has like a thousand votes so its not exactly representative of the whole fandom...
1994 started at beginning and to now
Yes, so maybe we need to check polls from the Japanese as well. Does anyone know about popular Pokemon forums in Japanese? I can go visit them. How strange, although the polls show that the majority of the fandom lies in the 15-20 range the franchise is supposed to be aimed at younger gamers. Actually I'm pretty surprised that only 64 in almost 1200 people are older than me.
