I dunno about you guys, but running away to college turned me into a much more hardcore fan than I was before.
Although it didn't make me a hard-core fan, I already was one, I met OTHER PEOPLE who still played it. Practically my entire floor did! When B/W came out there were 7 or 8 other people on my floor alone connected into it. It was reassuring to be able to see how many hours they had put into it as well the week it came out.

I'm 21, I was born in 1990.
Started playing Pokémon Blue around 98~99.
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
Geez I'm like the youngest here. 1998.
I got into pokemon in about 2002 or 2003, When my old gameboy got stolen when our car was broken into, so we went to Toys R Us to get a new one. Lucky for me, the Toys R Us exclusive giveaway thing was going on at the time where if you bought a GBA, you got Pokemon Crystal for free. I know that the Bulbapedia page says only black GBAs got Pokemon Crystal, but mine was the light blue, clear-ish one, and I still got the game.
So I was about 4 or 5 when I got my new GBA with the Crystal, and it was now the only game I had (my other games were stolen along with my GB), and I remember absolutely HATING that game. Mainly because it was a little too complex for a 4 or 5 year old to play, but I played it anyways, and I played it for years. Now I have lots more pokemon games, and Crystal's internal battery has long since run dry.

Yeah, I was always a fan but my friends knew way more than I did and spent years drilling into me good battle teams and strategies, EVs and IVs, moves, etc. Started out a fan, finished with a mild obsession. I was just surprised how many college students were SO into Pokemon.
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
1992. =) Been playing since LeafGreen came out, and have had on-again-off-again obsessions with Pokemon since.

1998, I'm 13, I'm only addicted to Pokémon since half a year. My brother constantly played it and I decided I'd give it a try, borrowed his Platinum, and got addicted...
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
I was born in 1990, and I'm just a few weeks away from turning 22.
So I was with the Pokemon craze from the beginning. I started watching the anime when I was in third grade, I think (so 1998-99) and got my first video game, Yellow, the following year. I also had the trading cards around that time.
My fourth grade year was when the craze was really at its height; everybody in our class had the video games and the cards. We all had these big binders where we'd store the cards and eventually the teachers wouldn't let us bring them to school anymore because all anybody would do at recess was sit on the blacktop and trade.
My sister (born 1993) and I also dragged our parents to see the first two Pokemon movies in theaters.
I was one of those "old school" fans who was resistant to anything past Generation 2 (since I grew up with Gens 1 and 2) for a while, but I started playing Ruby about a year ago and I'm loving it. Planning to get more newer games, especially once I get a DS.
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
I'm 25 years old. I started playing Pokemon games during the Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal Era. I first heard of Pokemon when I saw Pokemon Trading Cards and started collecting them (although I never did get the one card I was after from the beginning). About a year later, I watched my 1st Pokemon video, it was of the Ponyta/Rapidash racing episode, Gym battle vs Koga, and the Kanghaskan episode. After seeing the video a few times, I started watching Pokemon. By the time I started watching the Anime, it was already in its 3rd season.
Even at 25 years old, I still collect Pokemon trading cards, watch the Anime, and buy and play the Pokemon Games. I plan on sticking to the end with Pokemon.

I was born in 1991. A perfect time to be introduced to Pokemon. <3
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
I'm 12 years old...
but I started playing Pokémon when I was seven. First game was Pokémon Pearl. I now own Emerald, Soulsilver, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness, Leafgreen, White, and Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia.
I actually started watching the anime first. But I hate it now. Actually, hated it after Hoenn. The anime is the worst thing now, imo, and I hate it. I only like the manga and games now.
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
I am 20, and have been playing since I was six years of age.
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
17 here, been playing for 10 years. With a few breaks in between.
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
1984. While it wouldn't have stopped me from liking Pokemon one way or the other, it's nice to know that I'm not the only 27 (almost 28) year old on here and that some are even older than me.
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
1990. Got into it with Blue with only one break with Sinnoh. Got back into it with HG/SS.
Re: How old are you, Pokémon Fans? (Once more from the top)
1997. Yep, that's right. I'm only 14. Which, believe me, is a tough age to be a pokemon fan. With high schoolers being some of the most close-minded people on the planet and all that.
