Well, for me, that was over 10 years ago when I was a kid. My little sister and I used to walk into a video game store -- I think at that time was called Game Crazy,
and I would browse their list of magazines and books. And I saw one called "Pokemon." I was very much into animals then so I picked it up and told my mom there were a bunch of animals in it and that I wanted it. (But you know they are called Pokemon, right?).
So she bought me it and I would take that book with me in the bathtub, have long soaks, and read it while I was in there.
Before long I became addicted to it.
So I told my mother to buy me a Gameboy, and she did, and I remember buying Pokemon Red for it, and becoming a Pokemon Master within 1 short month.
And that was just generation 1.
By routinely going to "Game Crazy" was how I discovered other movies, books, and video games as well. Another resource was the Internet, where I discovered something known as "Neopets" but that is another whole game entirely, not to mention, its online, but I know about it!
