    That's probably just American hogwash.

I know in MPJ there was a reference to the characters not aging, but that's the comics.

Yeah, the anime is a different continuum.

On the comic thing - is that just one year of time = 4 years of comics?

*Sorry about the extremely dumb question earlier*

I think/ always thought that Ash never aged. As with most other Anime/ Animated Series. Even if he does age, it has been nothing major.

They'll logically concentrate on ageing his character as oppose to his appearance, since he never actually grows.

The difference in appearance between early and recent episodes is easily explained by the expected changes and advances in animation and character design. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with age.

I have not come to my own conclusion yet, but I must say I am leaning toward the ageless theory. What I DO know for sure is that the characters do not age as fast as our own years go by. If they did, Satoshi would be nineteen and Musashi and Kojiro would be over thirty.

Don't forget that ageless characters are not exclusive to American cartoons. Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan, among others, are long-running anime series that do not see the aging of characters.

On the other hand, sometimes characters age without it being completely apparent. The characters in Slayers have been officially proven to age, yet they don't go through any changes in design other than the obligatory evolution of the animators' styles and abilities.

Logically, the characters in Pokémon should age. However, one must remember that the anime writers are not always prone to using logic.

Didn't Pokémon.com say that the characters don't age?
Since when was Pokemon.com a reliable source? That's Nintendo's worthless propaganda site, it has no inside info from the Japanese writers or producers.

Oh holy crap, what a horrible layout.

Anyway, can we have someone go through there? Provided they can navigate such a cluttered thing.

In any case, don't believe Pokemon.com. Remember when they said Jessie and James were 12?!

That was exactly what I was going to say. He looks a bit different because the animation style is different now.

Geez, people are only stating their opinions. You believe what you believe, let others believe what they believe.
