Thread: Do you still get judged for playing Pokemon?

Where I work, we have people who collect Magic: the Gathering and talk about Skyrim. So no, no one gives me any hassles.

High School, and I don't tell anybody except those that ask. If they do, I will be honest with them and ask if there's a problem with it. Had no problems so far, and attracted a lot of people who loved Pokemon.

I work retail and we've got a lot of geeks working there. I've actually had a couple of my co-workers ask if I've gotten my shiny yet. Like I said, they don't give me any grief about my Pokemon habit.

I'm not a closet Pokémon fan, but I can't say I go around yelling about it either. I won't deny I love it if asked, obviously. I never really got judged for it, as some of my colleagues/friends played or watched it at some point, but everyone I know now either thinks it's childish or shuns newer gens. I'm not judged, but I don't have "Pokémon pals", either.

Nope! I play Pokemon at school during my breaks between classes. No one cares.

Most of the people i tell played it when they were younger, but only a few still play.

There was this one guy that I told and oh did he judge.

He now has ZERO respect for me and avoids me whenever possible, just because of pokemon and maybe some other nerd-ful habits.

That guy sucks!

No one cares, really. Except sometimes certain people will nag me and my friends for liking Pokémon, and we'd just reply in a sarcastic and condescending tone.

Except one of my newer friends made subtle references to Pokémon, and seems to know much more about Pokémon than any "normal" person should, leading me to believe that he too, is a closet fan. :P

People usually don't judge me when they dislike Pokemon, but they do make a scene about how incredibly stupid they think it is. Often times the people who hate Pokemon are the people who got such joy and wisdom from it as children, yet they still hate it when they should be at least grateful. Probably none of the people have given it a chance. They assume it's stupid because it has a rating under TV-14. Some fools confuse the parental guidelines ratings with the quality ratings. I hate it when those people act like morons and insult Pokemon just to tick me off. I can usually settle for giving them a glare and then changing the subject, unless they insult Mewtwo. I couldn't be a prouder supporter, though. I even wear Pokemon cards around my neck everyday.

Not really. In fact, I think only my mom thinks it's stupid/weird that I still play it and she still thinks I'm going to "outgrow" it eventually. Suck it up, mom, I'm almost 18, been a fan for at least 14 years. Not going to happen.

I let the world know about my pokemon pride. And I shun the non-believers.
Besides, I end up finding some friends that appreciate the franchise.

from the 14 years i have been a pokefan, i have had only 2 pepople judge me but they were the bully kids that no one liked and that was in second and fourth grade. Pokemon was quite popular where i lived. many people i knew liked it and even today 99 percent of people i know have knolege on pokemon so no they dont judge me.

No, only from my parents really. It doesn't matter how well I defend it, to them it'll always be childish. It's like they say in that old 90's Pokemon song, "they don't understand".

Not really. I don't tell many people about my interest in the games other than my family really. I think they think I've outgrown it and my playing is stupid and my dad has made remarks about it being childish, but I honestly don't care. I buy the games with my money and am more than old enough to decide what I should do in my free time.

Due to my nature,Im quite open about being a Poke fan for 13 years...I even made a friend that I soon found out that we are like brother and sister due to the fact that we both love Pokemon so much(kind of like Dawn and Ash shipping hehehehe)...But while I was going to the middle and high schools I did have a few "Why?" to "Are you too old to play Pokemon" sort of glances but I didnt care and I still dont...

I just figured that those kids were into things that they thought was cool but really not ment for there age...Like alot of them cussed and talk about the stupid shows that are rated M to AO shows...and also you could tell they were into the adult things like what they wear and how they talk...


Otherwhise,They may make fun of us for likeing stuff ment for "little kids" but I think we might make a why and such and such when they try to act not their age...Like adults and this and that....
