Thread: Do You Ever Want To Change Any Of the Pokemon's Name?

For me, Pokemon with regards to their nomenclatures (naming) ever since was an animation history. Pokemon (TM) already created hundreds and counting Pokemons. but there are Pokemon names that I don't really like or it stinks or it annoys me, more than what it showcased to the viewers.

When the anime was starting before I wonder where did the authors/creators got theses names. I thought of naming Pikachu to be Micelectric (Mice + Elecric) and Bulbasaur to be Whippuse (Whip + Lettuce) so funny..

I only ever wonder about the names for legendaries, the rest are usually simple enough to figure out. How did they get the name "Giratina", or "Jirachi"? Probably words from other languages, is my guess.

Mr. Mime. Nuff said. Come on, theres tones you could call him instead. Psime (Psi- Mime)or Mimeik (Mime Magick).

I suggest they should have name Giratina into Centigon (Centipede + Dragon) and Jirachi for Genish (Genie + Wish).

The legendaries keep their original Japanese names. >.<

I know "Jirachi" comes from a Russian word. Do svedonia, Jirachi.

And I do think Purugly got screwed in the name department.

I don't really want to change any names, because I don't think I can come up with a better name than what was suggested.

I'd change Gardevoir back to "SirKnight". Breaking gender-stereotypes with a very cool name! Plus it fits with Gallade better. "Gallant Knight"!

Giratina rhymes with the Japanese pronunciation of Platinum. Giratina = Puratina. ...well, sorta-rhymes.

Actually, I like the names most Pokemon have. Most names are simple yet effective.

I wish they would've used the beta name for Dratini, Dragoon. Then we could relate :P

No... I think that their names are one of the reason that make Pokémon so quirky and awesome.

Sudowoodo could've been "Bonsyke". Bon coming from bonsai (like Bonsly), and syke coming from the slang term meaning "just joking" or whatever (seeing how Sudowoodo fakes being a tree). I think Bonsyke would've been better, imo. :3
