    Default Disillusionment with Pokemon

Well, I haven't posted here much in a long time. Part of it's other interests occupying my time, but also...I've mostly lost interest in Pokemon. I really wish I could still love it like I used to, but it just doesn't come naturally to me anymore. Every once in a while, I play me Ruby, sometimes get a little enjoyment, but it's empty, and boring, and I eventually go back to Mario Kart and Yoshi's Island DS. Only with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 have I been able to recapture any of that wonderful spark, and I know that as soon as I beat the story mode, it, too, will be lost to me. I suppose it might just be a part of me getting older, maybe, improbably, maturing, and my short attention span, but I can't help but feel sad that something that used to bring so much joy to my life has become meaningless.
Does anyone understand where I'm coming from on this?

Well, it could be the lack of new worlds to explore at this time. You said you were sparked again with the recent game...

Maybe try raising a pokemon you've never paid attention to before.

I do. That's why I don't post much (or at all) in the anime/games sections. Just not enough new things to keep the interest going. I still get interested with each new game's release, but other things come along more regularly and can keep my interest. Pokemon's just become an occasional distraction, like with the Final Fantasy games (though since my PS2 stopped working, I haven't played one in years and years. Though I AM eagerly awaiting Tactics Advance 2).

Well, when I beat pokemon crystal, a few years ago, I started to become a bit bored of pokemon, because I though there was nothing else to do, until I found out about the battle tower, which I accidentally ignored while beating the game (because in G/S there wasn't anything in that place).

The only thing that kept me interested was the battle tower because the trainers there were so competitive that I lose all the time and so, I tryed to build different teams to win battles, until I was finnaly able to start winning.

In my opinion the battle tower in Ruby and Sapphire is not competitive enough, so I recomend beating the Battle frontier (pokemon emerald).
In case you have already beaten it, try to participate in it with different pokemon than those you are used to battle with. It's always fun to battle at the frontier because you never know what your opponents will bring and you know that you'll never win all the time.
Since everyone these days has one of these, I'm going to put mine too...

On a funny note, I made this personality test on 3 different ocasions and the pokemon I got every single time was Togetic so this can't be very wrong...

Yeah it occasionally happens to me. I will lose all hope for a set amount of time. Yet some ray of hope always shines through, especially since I now have the pikachu plush in my avatar. A good stratagy I have found is to daydream cross overs with other games. Like how I crossover Pokemon and Legend of Zelda with naruto style fights and it is an epic daydream.
Just listen to the lyrics of season #7 in english, is kinda short but the message is absolutely briliant.

Sometimes, I decide to start playing a pokemon game again, but I get tired before reaching the first badge and give up playing it. :(

In fact, it has been a while since I actually beat the pokemon leage in a game...

    Does it happen to you?

No, I think you are right to be bored. (This explains a lot too, because I've been wondering why you aren't around) I really do think Pokemon needs to be shook-up much like Mario was shook up in Mario 64, Zelda in Zelda 64, and Metroid in Metroid Prime.

Gen 5 is where it has to be, honestly, I think you'll be back then, but until then you're basically better than me. (Because I for one haven't been playing my old games or such)

As for me, thinking about it last gen I got "bored", but I think it was more frustrated. It took me a lot longer to beat Emerald, but it was mainly because I didn't care. I think all my Pokemon are still in their 40s in that game. However, I think I stayed generally interested into pokemon because I tend to think about what I'd want the games to be (even though that's a pretty big waste of time)

I've been more or less interested with Pokemon ever since the days of GSC. Have/Had some times in which I started getting bored with a Pokemon game, when I do I go and do something else for a period of time (read, write, play other non-Pokemon video games), but after a while I get interested in Pokemon again wehn I go back to it. And so it goes - it has its lulls every so often, but a break from it seems to do the trick. After all, only playing one kind of game all the time will have you starting to get bored after a while, even if the game is as diverse as Pokemon can be.

And writing comedies based on it overs a whole new perspective on Pokemon. :) So I have a few more options that you in that regard.

A funnier version of the Pokemon Colosseum game, that also explains the 'unexplained'.
Ever wondered WHY Wes blew up Team Snagem's base?
Or what's with Miror B's hair?
