I'd say it's safe to say it has. As a young kid, being a Pokemon Master was one of those dreams everybody had, but it convinced me to get up out of bed every day and be "the best you could be." It was my ambition. When I hit 6th grade and I was suddenly picked on for it, I admit I took it pretty rough. I didn't stop playing, but I did play significantly less, and my passion kind of died away.
When I moved to Texas and a new school, people were much more lenient on it. So my passion came surging back, built up over the last 2-3 years. This "New Age" I'm going through has helped push me into 'shipping, and overall made me a more creative, unique person. I have made a bunch of friends on this forum and IRL that share my love for Pokemon.
That was all a kinda big jumble, but I hope someone makes some sense out of it. TL;DR, Pokemon helped me get through the day as a kid and helped give me a unique outlook on life and being creative.
