Thread: Cubone's mysterious past and why he evolves into Marowak

You see, Cubone is a baby Kangashkan, which after its mother died took its skull and wore it. Because the baby Kangashkan SHOULD grow into a full size Kangashkan. BUT it evolvles into Marowack. My theory is that it starts growing, but when it's head fits into the skull it stunts it's growth. This would explain it's size in comparison to a adult Kangashkan. I don't know why anyone would want to know this, but revealing this felt important to me. :3

I see Im not the only person who saw a relation between Cubone and Kangaskan....your theory seems decent, although there might be some holes in it.

Only problem is that Baby Kangaskhan (dammit Game Freak why you still haven't made it a full Pokémon???) has different eyes than Cubone. Still it is a nice theory though, but I can't even think about how many Marowak moms have died so all Cubone can wear its skull. Once again another screw up on Game Freak's part.

Well real life kind of applies here. All newborns have blue eyes at the start, and then they change colors. :3

The only thing is the type difference, but other than that it works for me. Its just as confusing as Dugtrio and Magneton.

Maybe it was the original idea for a cub one to evolve into kanghaskan (as there is a big likeness between the two) but it was less disturbing for children to evolve it into something than has an actual skull-like head, so that they wouldn't have to imagine a mother kanghaskan decaying...

In my opinion, i sort of like Marowak better than Kanghaskan any way, your theory is pretty good though.

yeah marowak is really cool but wouldn't that be cooler if a trainer could FORCE their marowak to evolve by using a stone?

I love Cubone, though. I always thought that the ground typing was due to how people bury the dead. That was my 6 year old self thinking that so hell if I know if it's true.

Well, yes. The baby is in the mothers pouch because it is too young, and because it must have grown some more because it IS bigger than a regular baby Kangashkan, it must be older.

Wasn't MissigNo, like, originally unerased data that Marowak evolved into Kangaskhan? I'm not so sure about this though.
