Thread: Coming Soon to a Theater Near You (or, movie theaters in the Pokeworld)

Seeing as we've had two episodes about movies (or technically, film festivals) so far in the anime, the clip of young Ash and young Gary in a movie theater in the second one (I think) got me to thinking: What is the movie going experience like in the Pokeworld?

I figure it is an updated version of the old-timey movie going experience, where you would get treated to such things as cartoons, shorts, serial chapters, as well as the previews and the movie itself.

Not very up to date, that's what.

I mean, in that very episode with all the movie flashbacks, everything shown involved bad, outdated special effects or animation (the Western was even sepia tone) and Giovanni's home theater experience (per Meowth's fantasy) consisted of a projector and a pull down screen.

I suppose that's the price one pays for videophones, hologram messages, and other high-tech gear...

Knowing that, it seems like a mix of both the old-timey experience and what we go through in my mind.

For instance, the Clefairy short in one flashback could've been a cartoon, and "Oak's Pokemon Lecture" and the PokeRap could very well have been shorts

Brock's favorite movie was in black and white, but that could have been a stylistic choice rather than a lack of technology.

And did anyone else get a "snuff film" vibe from the fantasy of Giovanni watching something with such a sparse setup? I mean sure, because it's Meowth's imagination he's watching dancing cats, but hey.

Maybe Brock likes old-timey serials? (because the heroes in those always get the girl in the end, which Brock has yet to do.)

His seemed to be a taut drama though rather than a romance.

Does anyone know the Japanese title for the film? I know in English it was "I Saw What You Ate Last Tuesday", which is funny but anyone can tell that's not even close to the original.

Unfortunately, I have no idea.

I have written a monologue one-shot from Gary's POV that expands on the scene I mentioned at the first post.
