Thread: Best Water type starter

It's a tough decision between totodile and mudkip for me. I decided to vote totodile!

I like Mudkip and its whole evolutionary line. I also like Squirtle's line.

Piplup. It's cute and it's awesome. Though I don't like it as much when it evolved (appearance-wise), Piplup's cool.

Squirtle comes second, cause turtles are cool. Totodile comes third. And Mudkip goes last because the meme gets annoying. =3=

I'm torn between Squirtle and Totodile. On the one hand, Totodile was my first Pokemon. On the other, Squirtle has been amazing for me in Platinum. I really think it's a draw.

I like Piplup too (just not as much) but I'm just now beginning to tolerate Mudkip (it's still my second least favorite starter, after Chimchar).

You really ought to refine your question. Because your polls are reflecting the FAVORITE water starter. Not which one is the best.

Which one is the best isn't something that's an opinion anyhow. Swampert is clearly the best, given its awesome ability to tank, followed by Empoleon who is a surprisingly devastating sweeper given its awesome defensive typing. And Feraligatr is the third best, as it's basically a toned-down Gyarados without the 4x elec weakness.

Blastoise is just inferior, sadly. It doesn't do anything particularly well, and anything it can do, a lot of things can do the same thing better.

No, it depends what you're looking for in the Pokémon that determines which is "best". If you're looking for a cute one, you'd say whichever one is cute by your standards is the best. If you looking for a tank, you'd say whatever one tanks best is the best. Etc., etc. It depends on what you look for in a starter, since what sort of "best" is being asked is not specified.

adding on to that, when one says 'best' they're most likely going to get an opinion...

besides, not everyone cares about stats (if that's what the person Nya was replying to was basing their 'best' on) so even if one's got higher stats than another, it doesn't necessarily make it the best. you could be judging on looks, too. even in competitive battling, there's a ton of other variables, and the best in one situation won't be the best in another.

I like Penguins better than Turtles, Alligators, and Amphibians. This is why I like the 4th gen line better :3

Swampert is no doubt the best when it comes to battling. Don't know what I'd do without it. I've always liked the totodile line, guess cause I'm a gator fan. Hate the the piplup line but you can blame the anime for that. And squirtle will always be my first pokemon ever.

Squirtle for me, but its Blastoise that made me vote for him. I mean come on! It has cannons!!!
