Thread: Best Grass type starter

@Envoy Okay, Venusaur may be better. But as I've said before, I prefer Sceptile because it is different from the other grass types because of its speed and not because I feel others are useless. I was responding to a post that made Torterra seem much much better and making Sceptile seem weak. I wanted to point out out that Sceptile is also quite powerful.

I get that, but the thread's called "Best Grass type Starter" and that's clearly Venusaur. I was just pointing that out.

Now, for the Sceptile vs Torterra debate, I say they're both more or less even. Allow me to explain.

Sceptile has Torterra (and almost all of UU) beat when it comes to Speed. That's not even a question. It also has decent physical attack and good special attack. This, coupled with a very wide movepool, make him by far the best pure sweeper of the four. However, it can't tank physical hits to save it's life and will die to the wind blowing.

Torterra is the most physically bulky of the four and can take neutral/resisted physical hits all day long. It can also hit like a truck with a Rock Polish set. However, Ice types laugh at it and it's terrible speed means that even a snail can outrun it. So it can't outright sweep teams or revenge kill like Sceptile.

In conclusion, they're both the best at what they do and suck terribly at what the other does. Meaning that in the grand scheme of things, they're more or less even when compared to each other.

Yeah, there are pretty much equal. Since this debate isn't going anywhere, lets just end it and let me say that it was nice having this debate.

Torterra. Althogh it was hard because grass starters are my favorite.Gen 5's grass starter looks promising too.

Torterra. It's easier to handle, and has a wider range of attacks. (Grass, dark, and ground).
Second best is Sceptile.

Bulbasaur has the most experience.

The thing is, you never said we would be determining the best based on stats or moves or anything like that. Just why we love the Pokemon and such. Clearly most people think Sceptile is the best.

i Say Sceptile its really strong and in the pokedex it says it can cut down trees with the leves on its arms^^!

I have no problem with people liking Sceptile better, but that wasn't what the previous conversation (the one that ended with your quote) was about.

But most definitely Treecko. It is a gecko. That eventually evolves into a LEAFY DINOSAUR. Bulbasaur is okay, but kind of slow. Chikorita is ugly and lumpy (in my opinion). Turtwig is a little bland (Torterra is greatness, but we're talking the basic forms, right?).
