Thread: Best Fire type starter

I didn't forget Typhlosion. I think the Cyndaquil line would come in second for me, I really like them. But competitively Typhlosion is just not as good as the other three.

Infernape's the only one that really win here. Charizard and Blaziken aren't really THAT interesting IMO, and Typhlosion's meh at best.

The Chars, easily. I quite like the Cyndaquil line, too, though.

I voted for flaming chicken. Though i like Typhlosion a lot as well.

i like all starters really but this is why

all starters can learn earthquake giving all advantege sept for with charizard yes infernape can learn stone edge but charizard could just us HM:fly to counter beating all other starters with the most powerful moves

my rate on the best out of power (remember all can use earthquake)

#1. charizard - HM:fly (to counter stone edge)
#2. blaziken - brave bird (for infernape) & stone edge(for charizard)
#3. infernape - TM:stone edge(for charizard)
#4. typhlosion -TM:rock slide(for charizard)

all fier starter from each region has come for the international fier starter championship all pokemon are out o mrrrrr gooozzzd uuuu a powerful earthquake from all pokemon i cant belive this there all k.o no one's! standin... what that up in the sky it's a plane no a bird no a UFO no a flying bugger no it's just team rocket... wait there charizard hovering over the field we have ower new champ haaaaa.....y!!!! & team rocket blast off again

Don't forget that speed is important here. Infernape is faster than Charizard, and gets to use Stone Edge and kill Charizard before it can fly up.

maybe i see the speed invovled it's just charizard can use way more moves other than fly to beat infernape & blaziken

if charizard used airslash that could by it self beat infernape & if infernape some how stands after the attack he may flinch giving charizard a 2nd time to attack also

if you say airslash is to slow (which it's not) charizard could use aerial ace a very fast move that will hit befor stone edge

then they all (including charzard) can use earthquake a move im sure could beat infernape

also this means blaziken is better that infernape in (move advantage)

You do know that Infernape is faster than Charizard, right? Infernape is actually the fastest Fire starter, and the second fastest of all starters.

With this knowledge in hand, then it's obvious Air Slash won't flinch Infernape (a flinch can only happen if the attack causing the flinch hits the Pokemon before it can move)

Moreover, Charizard takes x4 damage from Stone Edge while Infernape only takes x2 from Earthquake.

Also when it comes to moves, Infernape has the other starters beat. It can learn Naty Plot, Swords Dance, Shadow Claw, Stone Edge and Grass Knot. The first two moves double his power and the rest take care of all of his weaknessess (the other Fire starters can't say that.)

The only way Charizard can beat Infernape is through luck. If Infernape misses with (the admittedly inaccurate) Stone Edge, then one Air Slash will defeat him, but otherwise, Infernape has the advantage

i agree i only believed charizard could win with air slash forgeting his (4x) weakness with that i beleave now infernapes #1like i use to thats good i like all fier starters but chimchar is my fave of the 4 & i tryed to pick the best without picking my fave & thinking it throw

blaziken beats charizard as well being faster with stone edge and rock slide moving charizard to #3rd place

but blaziken & infernape is tyed for 1st infernape is faster but has no move that can 1 hit k.o blaziken & blaziken can use swagger + brave bird but if inferape fight throw the confession & hits blaziken with aerial ace twic infernape will win

this leaving the match up to luck

Blaziken is actually the slowest Fire starter. Charizard and Typhlosion are tied in second place and Infernape is the fastest.

Infernape has good attack and Blaziken has bad defense. Earthquake can kill Blaziken most of the time. However, I've seen cases in which Blaziken does survive. In these cases, Infernape would be destroyed by Blaziken's better attack stat and Earthquake.

I'm not going to say whom I think is the best. I think they all have a chance to win, so I'll just let the rest of you decide that

Kanto and Johto forever.

My favorite fire starter is Cyndaquil! Whenever I start over my Johto games, I always start with Cyndaquil. ^__^

Well, there are only four other Fire families of Pokémon in Hoenn (Numel/Camerupt, Torkoal, Slugma/Magcargo, Vulpix/Ninetales) out of all 200, but on the other hand those particular ones happen to be quite good (except Slugma/Magcargo).

Though I like Charizard for nostalgic reasons.
