Default Anyone Else Had This Occur

Back in 1999, when I was in Sixth Grade, the Jefferson Parish Board, I'm pretty sure it was a rule they imposed, because it wasn't just my school that did it, a ban of all things Pokemon was set, including the TCG, stickers, magazines that contained articles related to PKMN,etc.
This ban, from what I can tell, is still in place

So, did anyone else's school ban everything Pokemon related?

We banned cards, because of people stealing. People only stole from stupid kids who left their cards in their desk when they weren't there. I was not a stealer. We were allowed to bring our games and Game Boy Colors though. And everything else. I remember once when anyone in my class got was done their work, they got a Pokemon crossword. :D

There was a ban on all forms of cards when I was in Grade School and High School.. but people still brought and played them anyways. The rule was put to keep kids from gambling, but no one ever really gambled in the first place so we thought it was a stupid rule anyways.

Sometimes I think you have to just throw some kids a little bit of Trust and you'll find that they do things on their own.

I was in college when it came out, but they didn't give a damn what you brought to school as long as you didn't do it in class. And even then, some teachers didn't care as long as you did your homework.

Yeah my school banned other stuff too. Beyblades, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc.

And I agree with the trust thing. I was a good student in Elementary so they did trust me I guess. I miss those days..

Wow, that must really really suck. No such rule has ever been made to any school I've been to as far as I know. I have Pokemon stuff with me all the time, figures, books, whatever. I also play it on the bus. I've brought Pokemon stuff at the last two schools I've to as well... so no. I've never actually took cards, but the counselor actually said she wanted me to bring some cards to show her so she could see what they looked like. O-o

Well, back when Pokemon was still popular at my school(s), there weren't any bans on them, just as long as we didn't play with them in class. Nowadays, it's basically the same thing, but no one plays Pokemon anymore, and those who used to pretend that they never did.

Back in third grad (I'm in seventh now) there was a Yu-Gi-Oh! card ban because of stealing. No such rule for Pokemon cards. ANd then paper airplanes, but that's besides the point...

Well, nobody ever actually BROUGHT their Poikemon cards to school at my elementary school, so I have no if they had a ban.

As for my middle school, I think they banned all trading cards, and playing cards, as well as a lot of other fun stuff, and any movie above G rating (grr), so yeah, its banned there, but only because it's fun and some parents are dolts about stuff when if comes to keeping their kids safe.

My elementary school's rule was to rip up any Pokemon card that was found on school property. I found it sickening to see teachers rip them up in front of class. Though, I never brought them because of this.

The rule for Game Boys was to take it away and not give it back until the last day of school. And if you were absent that day, you would never get it back.

That's tatamount to theft. No, that *is* theft, and vandalism too I'll bet. Yeah, some message that's teaching the kids--don't like anything or someone will take it away from you.

Hmmm. Well, we had a ban on anything Pokemon related where I went to school. At the time it came out, I was going to an ultra-Catholic Middle School, so it was pretty iffy. But, admittedly, the card banning was a good idea due to the stupidity of children. A few years later, my Scout Troop was having a Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds and one of the cashiers (a younger boy at the time) had started accepting Pokemon Cards as a form of currency to buy meals with. We caught on pretty quick, but it was pretty lulz. And that's when all card-related games (there was a fairly large number of us that played Magic/Pokemon/YuGiOh at that point) were banned for a few years as a result.

I don't remember any ban on Pokemon things, as long as you didn't play with them in class. But what I always wanted to know is what people had against Pokemon. There's a hell of a lot of things I hate so if I see someone with something I hate should I take it and then destory it because I don't like it?

Well I can see banning some things because they're big-ticket and might be stolen. Like you wouldn't wear a diamond necklace to school, for instance.

But destroying them in front of the class? That's just wrong, and really sick.

Back in 1999 at my Primary School Pokémon cards (and other collectables) were banned and Gameboys would be confiscated on sight. This was actually pretty sensible because theft was rife there at that time. The confiscated items were usually returned to their owners at the end of the day.
