Thread: A Serving of Sommeliershipping.

Greetings, this is the shipping of Dento/Cilan x Cabernet/Burgundy in Pokemon Best Wishes!. Cabernet is Dento's rival Sommeliere/Connaisseuse, and is a Sommeliere on the basis of revenge towards Dento, a Sommelier.
She has rather cool feelings towards him- however, we Sommeliershippers believe those are there to disguise feelings of affection, and in BW042, we see Cabernet admit to herself that Dento truly is the A-Class Sommelier that she doubted, and a great chemistry full of beautiful elements had begun to blossom. And, though Cabernet is cruel to Dento, he remains civil enough in return to her.

Anyways, I felt that the time was rather ripe for a Sommeliershipping thread, and I hope that I'm not alone in liking this ship...

To start off with a topic: What sort of taste do you feel that Sommeliershipping has?

I <3 Sommeliershipping. I mostly prefer Cilan with guys, but this is one of three het Cilan ships that I definitely support. <3 I'm a sucker for rival ships, and I love Burgundy's attitude towards Cilan. She clearly wants to prove that she's better than him, but underneath that exterior it's obvious that she respects him, and Cilan is just always so nice and respectful towards her. I love that he doesn't stoop to her level and insult her back, but rather remain neutral throughout everything. They're just a very sweet pair and I love them :D

Yes, I believe she admires him a lot, as during all of his evalutions in the Tournament Arc, it was Cabernet who gave him the most attention. And, if Cabernet's next evalution is something quite similar to his, I think we'll know that she was taking mental notes.

I also feel that Cabernet quite likes how suave and polite he is, but she can't stand the fact that she actually if fond of something about him, so it ends up infuriating her, as she tries to deny particular feelings.

The fact that Cabernet spent the whole tournament whining about him when in reality she was paying the most attention to him (as Langley said) was hilarious. xD I loved their farewell at the end of the tournament too, where she was totally civilized and nice to him, and even smiled. I can't wait for her to show up again. :3

Even though that is a good description of their "marriage" (in Sommelier terms), I don't think I'd ever eat such cuisine myself. XD

Perhaps she's a more polite person, due to his influence? Oh that would be adorable...

It may be my little fangirly spectulation here, but Cabernet looks rather interested in him in that frame...

I absolutely adore this ship! Definitely my favorite het ship involving Dent.

The thing I love most about this ship is their great chemistry. They make great rivals, particular because of Cabernet's ambition to be become better than Dento. I also love how Dento responds back to her; polite and gentlemen like at first, but when they battled, it really showed off their rivalry.

I adored their interaction at the end of the tournament as well. It really shows how much they both like each other as people.. and not just as rivals.

Since the first day, I felt like there was something more to Cabernet's feelings towards Cilan than just revenge. Maybe it's just me, but I always fall for rival shippings.
Now to answer the topic: (I suck at this by the way)
I feel a coming together of two opposite flavors. A cool suave taste that looms over a spicy hot flavor, cooling it down to just the right temperature, creating a rich and savory taste at the end.

Hello, Watericedragon and Paperhorse! Lovely to see that there is Sommeliershippers around.

Yes, I think, while it is partly revenge, Cabernet used it as a base reason to cover up a lot of questions, and it's stretched to a tenous amount at times. And that blush really gives her away.
And, watericedragon, personally, I felt that was a beautiful description of their marriage as two rival Sommeliers, it made me beam.

I agree, Paperhorse, on that they can see each other on other angles than as rivals, and I think that's possibly the best development for the relationship.

I just wonder; what will their future interactions be like? And, I'll be a little bit bold with this one, but...
How do you feel/hope their relationship will unfurl by the end of next year?

I always find it fun to make shipping predictions, but I'll answer this later.

Their taste? Spicy on Burgundy's part, receptive on Cilan's. So I think a dish describing them would have an insanely spicy ingredient neutralized by some other stuff also put in the dish. (I'm not a cook. I don't know what ingredients can do this. >.<)
Their relationship at the end of the year? Urg...as much as I'd like to admit it, it'd be the same as it is now. Like Contestshipping, their relationship should at least become more friendly, but not as romantic as I'd like it to be.An ideal relationship I'd like would have a lot of confused blushing and stuttering on Burgundy's part, and teasing from Cilan's part.

Burgundy: Believe me Cilan, I'll surpass your connoisseur ranking someday! Seulement vous vous Attendez! (pronounced badly by Burgundy, French for 'Just you wait!')

What do you think will happen the next time Cilan and Burgundy meet?
Maybe they would spend some time together and see character development between the two.
The only think I don't want to see is the writers completely forget about what happened at the tournament and make Burgundy still want revenge on him.

I'm so pemissitic, that I have to dearly hope that the writers won't reset their relationship for comedy reasons, but I'm sure they won't. I think it'd be a good rivalry- but not a close friendship, I think Cabernet would halt that, but I think it'd still have a romantic suggestion, nonetheless. I've a feeling that Cabernet has philophobia (fear of love and intimacy); it'd explain a lot.

It does, doesn't it? I mean, we had that brilliant character development at the end of the Tournament Arc and the sommeliershipping interactions throughout. Which helped to prevent me from hating the thing entirely.

The interactions between those two in the tournament arc was one of the only things holding it afloat for me. I loved the arc at first but eventually it dwindled down into something that was a completely missed opportunity imho.

Anyways, I hope Burgundy can develop a stronger like for Cilan towards the end. Not an outright romantic feeling but something that can be either friendship or romance; that way we can keep guessing. I'm excited to see what becomes of them later down the road :3

Hm, yes; funnily enough, during the Tournament Arc, I never expected that character development, as the first episode of it was cordial, however as Dento battled, she grew back into her usual self towards him, so yes, I was pleasantly surprised.

I thought of something;

I know this is slightly strange; but I kind of would like to see actual flashbacks on the Gym battle between the two (proably at the end of the year, though); I think it would settle a few differences at the time and patch things up.

And you know how Cabernet confessed to herself that Dento truly is the A-Class Sommelier that she previously denied to herself? Well, I wish she'd just tell him that someday.
