I could see Ash getting fairly emotional, though there's a better chance he'd act mad then cry, being Ash.

If War ever came to the Pokemon World (again? Surge was in a War after all) do you think Gary and/or Ash would enlist? How would the other feel about that?

I can't see either of them enlisting. Pretending that they're old enough for war at the moment, I can see Gary being drafted as a professor to help develop weapons of warfare/be a strategist but Ash? Even if Ash was drafted I can't see him obeying. Ash is just too noble and while pokemon battles are all good and fun, war stands against everything he believes in - I can see him becoming a renegade and doing everything in his power to stop the war(preaching as much as he can? Going to the pokemon and asking them not to fight? We've seen in movie 8 that they use pokemon to fight wars and there doesn't seem to be any airplanes, only blimps, so). Ash's seen war and knows of the sacrifices people have made(again, movie 8) to stop senseless fighting. If it came down to it, I think he would pull a Sir Aaron.

I can see them both being upset but they wouldn't cry - they'd probably be a little angry with each other. Gary would be angry with Ash because Ash would've placed himself in a position where both sides want him gone(yet a little proud because Ash is sticking to his beliefs unlike himself) while Ash would angry with Gary for cooperating so easily(while being a little worried for Gary nonetheless).

Again, I don't think either would enlist. Ash wouldn't harm humans or Pokémon seriously, and Gary probably feels the same way. It depends on the situation... In WW II, lots of men were forced to join the war. Soo, what if they HAVE to enlist too? Ash would probably try to end the war without fighting, and I think Gary would try to keep himself as much away from the battlefield as possible. So a technican/someone for strategy would be okay.
I think if the other would enlist, they both would be very worried about each other. And Gary would be the most upset one, because Ash is reckless anough to attract danger easily...

Ash is usually the one who follows Gary... But okay, I think Gary might be upset about it. I think he would rather go for field reseach than staying home anyway. :/ But seriously, we haven't seen Gary show up in the Hoenn either. Of course he wouldn't like the idea to stay behind and not have the change to bump into Ash once in a while, but again he wouldn't get enourmously upset. Maybe he can out by saying he has to do some quick researching. And he will be there during the Pokémon League, because his grandfather will be going too ^^

I like to think that Gary would chase after Ash eventually.

XD I had this funny vision of Gary in his grandfathers lab, and he overhears a phone call between Ash and Prof. Oak and Ash is telling him about all these dangerous things he's gotten into and Gary can't hold back anymore and just bolts, heading to whatever region Ash is at.

I know it would probably never happen that way, but it's still a hilarious though.

I can see Tracey and Ash talking on the phone and Gary rushing into the room and pushing Tracey out of the way to talk to him. XD

I read a doujin once (it was so crack-ish and hilarious), it had a different yaoi Ash ship every chapter. They had quite a few Pallet, and then something with Ash and Brock, Ash/Tracey, Ash/Morty, Ash/Eusine... It was mainly Pallet and one of the chapters showed a scene kinda like the one we came up with ^_^

Gary was visiting his Grandfather and then Ash called and he pushed both Oak and Tracey out of the way.
