All the "May-holding-Pikachu" moments. She's done this quite often, but if I were to find all the screenshots of them, I would never finish xD Bottom line is that Ash only gives Pikachu to the people he trusts dearly :) And of course, all good relationships are built on trust :)
and I always like to think that May is imagining Ash in her arms when she hugs Pikachu, because seriously, they're basically the same person xD
We've mentioned this a few times, but the sheer similarity of the Norman/Caroline and Ash/May parallelism. There's a whole
lot of it.
This is one of my favorites. Dawn tells Piplup to bubblebeam Ash because he's talking too much. He chokes a bit, and notice how May's the only one to show concern for him. The roles have been reversed <3
This one is also very common. May is having trouble in a contest, and starts to lose hope. Ash calls out to her with advice/encouragement etc. etc. and suddenly, May has the strength to go on. Again, this is very common...but like the Pikachu thing, if I found all the screenies for it, this post would never end xD I just thought this episode showed it the clearest...you can see how May's expression changes with Ash's words. Contests are very important to May after all...and Ash is her inspiration behind it :)
One perfect example of Ash and May's student/mentor relationship. In this episode, May is confused about the concept of evolving pokemon, and so Ash patiently explains it to her. Simple, yet it's heartwarming :)
This is from Lucario and Mystery of Mew. I think the pictures are pretty self explanatory. Should I mention that Max is sitting on the other side of May, but she looks to Ash first? ;)
And this, dear advanceshippers, is my favorite. After May does her appeal round in the Terracotta contest with Eevee making fireworks, you can see a close up of Ash, and he says "Wow, she sure looks like a winner to me" in a very admiring tone. He sounds so sincerely proud of May, and after helping her through her pokemon journey since square one, I'm not surprised; it's as if he's looking at her in a new light and thinking That's my girl.
Later, when Ash appeals, there is a close up of May, and she says admiringly "Wow, leave it to that Ash." And just look at her body language. If that doesn't show infatuation, I don't know what does ;)
Not to mention, when Nurse Joy comments on Ash's appeal round, she says "This is no doubt a response to May's exquisite fireworks." I dunno, I feel like that phrase just proves the bond between them...as if they are relaying messages to each other through art, grace, and Pokemon.
Oh, and since I was going through that episode, here's a new one! While discussing the Terracotta contest, May exclaims how excited she is to enter it. Ash then joins in and says it would be “even better” with them as the “top two,” and May agrees enthusiastically. It’s so sweet to see them bonding like this, and not to mention that their motions are almost always similar xD
