I agree; I think the Luvdisc scene is a definite "wave" to the idea of Ash and May as a pairing; they act so close in the movie, and as many people have said they form a sort of temporary bond as Manaphy's "parents" during it. I had the good fortune of watching it myself again yesterday and it always makes me smile; definitely my favourite Pokemon movie along with Movie 3.

Do the games and anime share a different view on Luvdisc? It's been a while since I've seen that Chronicles episode where Misty has her Luvdisc, but if I remember right that was filled with love and fluff in relation to all things Luvdisc, too. Your points are very valid, Swampert, since they could have easily substituted any other small Water Pokemon to swim beside them, but they settled on the Luvdisc.

I also noticed while watching the movie again, that when Ash puts May in the capsule (I swear I need to start watching that in slow-motion or something to try and take in every single frame ^^; ), she reaches out a hand to try and stop him, but is too late. Maybe she wanted to hold his hand one last time? ^_~ I don't know; I find every aspect of that scene almost unbearably cute.

Yeah, AG was based on Ruby and Sapphire. I know the Pokedex hints at a Luvdisc's meaning in the games, but I was also under the impression it was mentioned in the anime, too? Though I can't remember precisely, I'm pretty sure that that one Chronicles episode with Misty's Luvdisc mentioned something similar, or at the very least, it was heavily implied.

I miss the Hoenn anime so bad. I've been watching some early Advanced episodes lately and the whole cast was so much more vibrant and exciting to me than DP's is right now. I'm looking forward to the end of DP, when Ash will head back to Kanto for a bit and we'll get a bunch of cameos from old cast members. Surely May will be there too, right? ^^

yeah,me too. i really miss advanced generation series. i don't know why buy i'm not so interesting for dp episodes than ag episodes. i just watch dp episodes when may appear in full course tag battle and i really really happy that moment.. (big smile)

hey, ijust realized that in AG episode there are so many scene that shows how ash's treecko protect may's torchic. it's so cute!

Emerald came about towards the end of the AG arc, since it was the last GBA third-generation game to be released. Hence why May didn't have her Emerald clothes until her cameo in the DP series. I'm sure Ash appreciated the new outfit ^_~

I kind of missed May's old outfit during her cameo, though. Don't get me wrong, it was nice to see the green, but her classic red bandana is like her trademark, just like Ash's old cap was in Kanto.

You bring up a good point, though, bluemanaphy; there was lots of chemistry (platonic or otherwise) between Ash and May's Pokemon. They definitely interacted more than most trainer's Pokemon do between each other. If I remember right, Blaziken x Sceptile is a fairly popularly Pokemon x Pokemon shipping. Although I don't think there's anything romantic about it, I do think they would make great double-battle partners. I always wanted to see them battle alongside each other in some kind of tournament or contest where Ash and May were working together, but the Terracotta Ribbon was still awesome enough for me.

Umm...guys...there's something I need to say. I kinda converted to PokeShipping...

Also, don't you find it a bit weird that when Misty made a cameo, there weren't any hints for PokeShipping (correct me if I'm wrong) but when May came back for a cameo, there were a couple of hints. ;)

Well, I haven't watched the chronicles, but the title (Japanese) was: Kasumi and Lovecus! Love Battle!

Another interesting thing was: After checking that they are alone, they find out that their next mission is to apprehend the rendezvous Pokémon, Luvdisc. He intends to reverse its power to eliminate love from the world forever. That's another point to love...

Nothing happens until Caserin and Luverin appear to them. Their love is so powerful that the Prince and mermaid also fall in love

Ah, of course, I forgot about that scene! It's been about a year or so since I last saw Destiny Deoxys. That had a lot of other great Advanceshippy moments, though nowhere near as big as Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. I'll need to dig up another copy of it.

Challenger - is that the Japanese name for the intro to Advanced Challenge? I think I've mentioned numerous times that I freaking love that intro. At first I used to wonder what episode it was from but then I realised it was just an intro movie :/

All in all I think all of the AG movies were pretty good to us shipping-wise, so long as you used your imagination (though I can't speak for 8 since I haven't seen it). The whole "wish upon a star" thing in Jirachi Wishmaker was nice to think about in an Advanceshippy light, even though we don't have proof that she was thinking about Ash. I think a lot of cute fanfiction ideas stemmed from that unanswered plotline.

I've never seen Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. Are there any worthwhile Advanceshipping parts of that movie to warrant watching it? I'm not big on Lucario so I've always tended to steer clear of that one.

Yeah, see, that's what I thought - Luvdisc has always blatantly been a sign of love in both the anime and games, so I honestly don't understand how it can't be considered a "hint" between Ash and May to some people. She definitely deserves to appear again, just like Misty appeared at the end of the Hoenn League. Misty had a cameo in Hoenn, and then another at the end of the season, so why not May, too? Maybe she'll confess her love to Delia or something while she's there, too!

I always love the idea of that "end-of-season meeting" that the characters have; so many shipping possibilities and chances for all the characters to interact with other characters they never normally get to see.

At first, I despised Movie 8 myself, Lucario wasn't too big of a deal to me. But, there are cute moments here and there, so I like it some. Though I still wish Ash had danced with May, that would have been an epic win. @_@

Sorry I've been gone most of the night guys, I've been at a slam poetry meeting. I even wrote out a pretty good sized poem about Pokemon, but at first glance you would have no idea that it was anything to do with it.

Though, I find it strange, since Manaphy - A pokemon that could sense emotions - and luvdiscs - pokemon that represents love - were BOTH swimming with Ash and May. Not to mention how Luvdiscs were present through out the movie. Which is kinda...

omg now I *HAVE* to watch this movie! I am going to have an Advanceshipping weekend. Total Ash x May immersion. Maybe I'll finally finish the next chapter for my fic, too. Advanceshipping movies are nourishment for the soul <3

I know, seriously. That is not a plausible argument in my view at all. Out of all the Water Pokemon out there, they chose Luvdisc? When Ash and May were swimming on their own whilst gazing at each other? If Max or Brock were there to ruin the scene then yes, maybe it was just coincidence, but I don't buy that theory at all.

Oh, btw, DD, I watched movie 9 again yesterday and noticed the campfire scene you brought up in the old thread during the credits. May sure did have a knowing smile on her face. Reminds me of that one episode in Hoenn where she said "You'll understand when you're older, Ash!".
